    My home is on Sanibel Island and one of the many homes damaged by hurricane Ian. The process of repair and reconstruction was a challenge. Fortunately, I located Coastal Exteriors. Alex and his team proved to be responsive, fairly priced, and talented professionals. Dealing with a company that communicates was a relief. I recommend COASTAL !!!     While at one time, this small family business was 5 stars, our experience was anything but. I will give them 5 stars for sales & marketing as initial meetings were good. We met owner, Alex in Jan 2023 post Hurricane Ian in SWFL, for an estimate to replace siding/trim on our damaged home. We received a 62K quote, comparable to others, and decided to sign. We were told it would be ~6wks for materials and take about 2 wks to complete, so we were looking at a job done by the end of April. Given supply chain issues/labor issues post hurricane and changes to labor force availability in FL, we expected delays. What we didn't expect was ghosting, failure to communicate, excuses, untruths and complete lack of accountability for things that went wrong (lost orders, inefficient supplier middlemen, wrong inventory delivered, poor workmanship, no quality control). Sadly, all mishaps that occurred with our job were never acknowledged by the owner despite nothing but courteous inquiries on our part. Communication with the owner was non-existent at worst and at best, was slow, lackluster and lackadaisical. So frustrating as we are not ugly or disgruntled customers who act out. Had the owner stopped deflecting our concerns, blaming everything else under the sun, not taking responsibility/accountability and had at least communicated in a timely manner, this project would have been tolerable. This company bit off WAY MORE than they could chew with post Hurricane projects and it shows. There are still workmanship finishing issues that we're just not mentioning as any concerns will be ignored. The caulking job and carpentry are awful. See pictures. Job site clean up was poor. Owner had a final walk-through w/ one of us. He didn't acknowledge any of the glaring uglies. One entire section of our home measuring about 6x3 ft was left untouchedthe old vinyl siding remains! And it was not brought to our attention. We have absolutely no idea why the area was untouched, but I am guessing that they never retracted the hurricane shutter completely to discover the area behind it despite being on the job for over 5 months. We were not on-site for the entire job, which spanned on and off over about 5.5 months and we are not full time residents. I can only hope that they read this review and want to make things right. Weve tried to reach out twice for various concerns after the final payment was made and weve not received a reply, despite the owners invitation to call if there are any issues or questions. If our project represents this company's best work, buyer beware. Worst thing in contracting is lack of communication. Owner NEVER, not once, reached out to us first. And it seems he couldn't have cared less. Job completed in Oct 2023, 10 months after initial deposit. Paid in full. We discovered the uncompleted area AFTER the final walkthrough. I am gobsmacked. So disappointing. This review was posted on Better business bureau website (amended here) and received no response from owner so reposting in hopes it gets to them, they see it, and want to make things right. If so, to our satisfaction, I will update. Edited to add that the owner has indicated the office will reach out to us to come and look at the area missed. We've sent 2 texts that went unanswered ( a pattern). I wonder if my number has been blocked. We had three walkthroughs, not 6 but we won't split hairs here. I am happy to await a phone call to set up another meeting. Thank you. Edited to add that the owner came out to my home on the day he said he would, looked at the missed area, wasn't sure how it happened, but agreed to fix the mistake. It was done 2/8-2/9/24, 13 mos after initial contract was signed. Luis went out of his way, knowing our level of frustration, and completed timely as did Bryan, the finisher.

Judi, first off I appreciate your input as we strive to improve what we do on a weekly basis but I certainly wish you reached out to us first to address any concerns that you might have. Our office staff are great at what they do and are detailed and there is no record of you calling them to get any of this recorded into our system. The last year has been unlike any other and yes we certainly bit off more than we could chew and lesson learned on my part as I never want to go through that again. The supplier issues were legitimate, and we made changes to that issue after your job, just like everyone else they were over worked and under staffed. Having a lead guy that is responsible for quality and is English speaking has also been addressed but I personally walked the job with your husband 6 times to make sure you were satisfied with every aspect and we fixed everything you were unhappy with hence the final payment including the front railings that are not in our scope of work and are rotting and need to be replaced and based on these pictures you have the same issue with the rear railings. The missed siding and any other siding issues I’ll be happy to address as I don’t know how this happened and I’ll have the office reach out to set a time for me to come out.
