This company was referred to me by a very reputable Construction-Engineering firm for a six figure project at our community. I met with the rep who informed me he was new and only at the appt to gather info. He told me they would return within the week or following week to measure and get a bid to me. After not hearing from him for a little over a week, I reached out to only find out that the VP of the company was the one to bid the job and was told I would have it by the end of the week. That was now week 2. No bid arrived. The next week I called back to inquire on the bid. I was told the guy I met with had COVID, was home, had my information (of which there was none because he never measured anything, only took notes which had already been discussed with the VP), told they couldn't get ahold of him or get the info from him but someone would get with me on the following Weds when he returned. Later that day I received a phone call from the owner of the company apologizing, especially since they were referred from a company they receive a lot of work from, and told me he was going to handle this bid himself and he'd have something to me by end of the week. Today is that day. At 3pm, I have received nothing so I called to see if I was going to get it today. The receptionist that answered the phone answered with "hello", not the company name. When I asked you I was speaking with, she got an attitude. Once I knew I was with the right company, I asked to speak to the guy I had spoken to earlier in the week as I wanted to ask about our bid. She told me it would happen when Doug returned. I explained to her that Doug has nothing to do with this anymore and would like to speak to the owner. She didn't put me on hold but started saying really rude things about me to the people in the office to which they all joined in on and basically saying I need to find somewhere else and don't I realize they are in a COVID crisis. Well, NO, I didn't because no one said that. And the person that came to take my call was the guy that was supposed to be bidding the project for the last 3 weeks, as well as he is the VP of the company, and also said rude things about me yet Ive never spoken to him before and told me I needed to take my project elsewhere since I was "expecting so much". Really??? As I said to him, I have only expected what your company has been promising for almost 4 weeks. I was told for 3+ weeks I would have a bid, made promises with no follow through, without mention of COVID crisis other than the one new guy that I was told wasn't bidding it anyway and no call to let me know they still hadn't even started bidding it. Yes, Stewart, VP of the company....I guess I do expect too much since I was looking for your word to be good, for your company to be professional and for your staff to be respectable. But the fish only stinks from the top down so I see why the employees in the office are allowed to act unprofessional when you were also. What are your expectations of your employees, your contractors, your clients Mr VP? I'm just curious. Do you expect them to be good at their word? Do you expect them to get the jobs done they've promised you they will do? Do you expect them to show up on time?? Hmm. I have an annual budget meeting next week that I have to ask for the money for this large project, as well as present for financing. I now have no bid, no information and have to start the process all over again. You've backed me in a corner relying on your word and your company. Our 2021 budgets for this have to be voted on next week and our community has been left hanging. If roles were reversed...how would you feel at this point and what would your expectations have been the last 4 weeks? EVERYONE is dealing with COVID and impacted by it. I've had to change things at moment's notice also because of COVID but business does not stop. At least not when you are a professional. I wouldn't hire this company if you have "expectations".
