Sunshine Cathedral MCC

Sunshine Cathedral has never disaffiliated from MCC and "MCC" remains part of our legal name (though FB is one of the few places where you will find us using it). SC joyfully and faithfully upholds Troy Perry's Three-Pronged gospel (liberally interpreted and applied) and has adopted MCC's core values as our own. SC has ordained several MCC ministers and employs MCC ministers (as well as other ministers). SC actively supports the Global Justice Institute affiliated with MCC-NY. SC also holds affiliations with other ecumenical organizations (e.g., Divine Science Federation, International Council of Community Churches, etc.). New Thought (a philosophy that affirms the omnipresence of God and the possibilities that conscious unity with divine life offer) is one of the schools of thought featured at SC, as well as progressive Christianity, religious pluralism, and spiritual humanism. We do offer a New Thought group on FB for those who find that philosophy empowering; not every member is part of that group and not every group member is part of the church. It's just one more option we make available. A Course in Miracles is also offered at SC. SC is very dedicated to relieving suffering as evidenced by the multiple recovery groups on our campus, the 40k+ units of food distributed last year, and our working in partnership with 4 organizations to provide transitional housing for LGBTQ+ young people in need. The Word of Faith/neoPentecostal prosperity gospel is not part of our core teachings. One wonders how you believe a church should be administered, but "business" and leadership models have things to teach churches, schools, non-profits, etc. Arts programming, internet broadcasting, space sharing, food distribution, daily prayer, pastoral care, and worship are among the programs we offer. I wonder if you have much first hand experience of our church, worshiping with us, meeting our members, benefitting from or contributing our various ministries; and if not, I wonder why you felt the need to publicly chastise us? No church is for everyone and while we welcome all who wish to share our journey with us we wish only the best for those who choose different paths and communities. SC is a community of love and celebration. Those who are engaged with SC usually find it a blessing, which is our intention.
