I have to say that the rooms were clean and loved the fireplace. It was the most perfect location, being that it sits right on the waterfront and walking distance to all restaurants, bars, and souvenir shops. However, after a long flight and finally getting some sleep, we were awakened by a train passing through at 6am and this happened both nights we stayed at this hotel. On top of the train tracks being next to the hotel, the hotel is also currently going through extensive renovations and the strong paint smells are prevalent throughout the hallways. Lots of construction inside and outside the hotel. At the price, they are charging it is not worth the stay since there are renovations going on. The pool wasn't available either. It's no wonder they provided ear plugs inside your room because of the train that is extremely loud when passing through. We wanted to experience staying by the water and honestly it probably would have been better to stay somewhere else.

We booked at this hotel for our 10th anniversary because the location was in the heart of the historic downtown area, providing us walking access to the Fernandina Beach sites. The suite was set up as shown in the photos and did overlook the harbor. Unfortunately, there is an active train track that runs between the hotel building and the harbor/pier area. Although the train was slow moving, it still shook the floor of our top floor suite and was quite noisy during the night and early morning hours. The bed was comfortable but the room was lacking in overall cleanliness- hard surface flooring was very dirty, toilet bowl was not properly cleaned and was loose, and the room did not smell fresh. The hotel staff members with whom we interacted during our stay were polite and accommodating. The hotel held a nightly guest reception and served selections of non-alcoholic drinks along with beer and wine and light appetizers/finger foods. The options were below expectations and there was no ambiance (dimmed lighting, music...) to the event making it feel rather sterile. I broke out my iPhone and added Pandora music to provide a little atmosphere. After we returned home we discovered that we left a phone charger behind in our room. The staff did find it and directed us to a website to fill out a "lost item" form. At the end of the form, we were given choices of how to get the charger returned to us. ALL of the choices had fees that exceeded the value of the item. Suffice it to say, the hotel now has a free iPhone charger since the policy ONLY provides the return of items via that AI process and we live too far away to make the drive back to retrieve our item. Overall, we would NOT recommend the accommodations we had and the inflexibility of their policies makes this hotel experience rather disappointing. UPDATE: After communicating with the hotel manager, our charger was returned and we were offered a partial refund. We are grateful for their attempts to correct the issues we experienced. Nearby activities: Fort Clinch State Park, historic downtown area Walkability: Convenient location if you don't mind trains running along side the hotel during sleeping hours.

We stayed here recently when we were in town for a wedding. The staff was very nice and efficient. Parking onsite was good and our room was nice and clean. Location was great for what we needed. We happened to be there for Easter weekend and woke up to a goodie bag at our door from the hotel Sunday morning. Really nice touches! Only two things we didnt love were the trains running by early in the morning and the fact that the towels never really dried in the bathroom. Overall, great place to stay!
