One night, I was doing an approaches sim with a student at the 2230 block. It was a quiet night with no one else in the sim bay.
About 30 minutes in, after an approach or 2, I started to hear what sounded like a little girl crying. It then slowly transitioned into screaming. I thought it was just my headset acting up, so I lifted up a cup, and the screaming got louder. I continued to do more approaches with my student, but the sobbing and screaming incrementally got louder and louder as the lesson progressed.
After another approach, I asked my student if he heard the sobbing and screaming. He solemnly replied "yes" and we stared at each other. We agreed to do just one more approach and get out of there.
After what felt like the longest approach from the final approach fix to minimums, we stopped the sim and quickly packed all of our belongings, as the crying and screaming became increasingly louder and louder. Speeding through the sim bay, I shined my flashlight around the sim bay and in corners searching for a source, but found nothing. We picked up the pace, as the screeching drowned out our footsteps. At last, the cries and screams stopped immediately as the exit door latched behind us.
Since then, I refused to do sims past 2230, and always bumped them up to at least 2120 or 2010.
