Here is a little tidbit about this supposed great place to shop. They now snap a picture of you every time you buy something and pay with your Debit/Credit card. I asked Jeff, the store manager about this and he said it is to catch people using stolen debit/credit cards. Well, I for one, would like to know when it became the job of the store employees to decide who was guilty of this? From what I understand you cannot know if a card was stolen until the card is reported "Lost or stolen" by the person whose name is on the card. If they report it to the bank/company the card belongs to, the card is then declined at the time of alleged fraudulent use, but does the machine tell you it was stolen or just "declined, contact the creditor? There is always the possibility that the card expired and the person to whom the card was issued forgot to bring the new card they received only a day or more prior. The other part of this is the fact that they have no signs stating that you are being photographed by the machine, unless the employee happens to say "Smile" when you insert or tap your card in/on the machine. I don't think this is a legal practice in that the store is going to declare you guilty until proven innocent, if for some odd reason your card doesn't get an approval when you pay for your items, no matter what the reason may be. I, for one, will never shop in a Family Dollar store again or anywhere else that these underhanded practices are used. I have never seen this in any other store, so Family Dollar what's up with this?
