Couple things to set this record straight.1.) We never gave a 45-75 minute ETA. That isn’t how ETAs work with USAA. There isn’t a range. It’s a set time. 2.)We absolutely did not bill your insurance company for the tow. That would be illegal, and not at all something we would even contemplate doing. We run a VERY clean business. Additionally, USAA pays $20 TOTAL for a cancelled/unsuccessful call on this particular call. I can assure you $20 was not worth the round trip hour of driving we spent on this. It didn’t even cover the diesel fuel. We much rather would have towed the vehicle - because that’s how a tow company makes money (by towing vehicles).3.) With all the above said, let’s get down to the reality of this situation that you’re seemingly intentionally failing to mention. As we advised you by phone PRIOR to ETA expiration, we could not/would not perform the tow after hours. We offered to go back once the business was open in the morning. The highly important detail you are failing to mention is that your vehicle was on an auto repair shops property. You waited until AFTER the shop was closed to request your vehicle to be towed off their property. You had no documentation showing that vehicle had been released to you, and that no further monies were owed to the repair shop. Because it was after hours, there was no one at the shop to confirm if the vehicle was authorized for release. Your vehicle was in the back of their lot, indicating that it was not ready for release. Removing a vehicle that has an unpaid balance from an auto repair shop, or tow yard, (without authorization from the business) in the state of Florida is a crime. The fact that it was refused to have it towed out during business hours, only made the situation more suspect. If you feel that a business not willing to commit a crime, or be complicit to one, warrants a one star review - then so be it. I’ll stand by this one star review proudly knowing we made the right moral, and legal, choice. We aren’t willing to do dirty business, or be complicit in a crime. End of story.
