We stayed at Morning Glories and the house was perfect for our large group. It was clean, well appointed kitchen, and fun game room. Also check in/out was easy. Don't for get to rent a golf cart during your stay.

I have rented from American Realty for 28 years. Service is the best and they are always attentive to any small problem that might be encountered. They strictly adhere to the Covid protocol, and rental is always clean and well maintained. Lisa and Morgana have a wealth of local knowledge which they are happy to share to make your vacation more enjoyable. There is plenty of outdoor dining on Captiva and the views along with local wildlife are among the best you will encounter anywhere. Shelling and fishing are an added bonus, as is the laidback atmosphere. This is the proverbial cheeseburger in paradise, and is fun for the entire family.

Just finished a wonderful week in Captiva at our usual residence! Lisa and team did a great job. The only change to our routine post Ian was that we had to head to Sanibel for a few of our dinners, but we are glad we did. So you don't have to do your own research on what is opened: Old Captiva House (great dinner), Cantina Captiva (don't leet the food truck fool you, great food), Boops By the Bubble Room (can still get the Bubble Room desserts and great coffee and muffins in the AM), Mucky Duck (didn't eat there, they don't take reservations and you can rarely catch a table outside), Doc Ford's Sanibel (awesome, ate there twice by request), Rosalia's (great Mexican food), Cielo Sanibel (best meal in a log time and best meal of the week), Timbers (crunchy grouper as good as ever). Make reservations before you get to the island. There are more diners than restaurants in many cases!

This is a very unprofessional company and they are in the business of holding peoples money. The specific name on our reservation is Lisa Wheeler. We booked a reservation through VRBO. The dates were open so I booked it. The first time they cancelled she stated that the previous rentals have first refusal. That is a good practice but why did you not block out the rental on VRBO. This situation caused VRBO to charge me over $400 in fees which Lisa said she had nothing to do with and refused to help. I continued to wait and set a calendar for the week when I could book safely. I when through the booking again and again Lisa Wheeler cancelled. This time with a similar reason, and again with VRBO charging. Currently although Lisa has cancelled but not credited over $1100 of my money back. I have a call into both VRBO and the better business bureau. This place should be shut down. DONt give them your money or your business. I am a hard working educator who was hoping to take my family on a vacation. I can only imagine the number of seniors that are not as quick with new technology that American Realty has stolen from.

Mrs. Roman,Thank you for expressing your frustration with the services provided by our company, however, I would like to clarify the events as they occurred.Please be advised that we have been working with VRBO to correct the system error where reservations can be made prior to the availability of the home. Keep in mind that VRBO is a third party agency that is not associated with American Realty Group of Captiva in any other form than to market properties. Also, in your correspondence you communicated with several staff members with the exception of Lisa Wheeler who is our general manager. The only reason her name shows up on VRBO is because she is the person associated with the account.On 3/14/2022- You made a VRBO online reservation for the dates of 4/8-4/15/2023. We canceled the reservation ( without processing any charges ) and explained to you in witting that we reserve exactly one year in advance with current guests having 96 hours from arrival date to decide whether they will return or not. We can release the homes after the 96 hours have passed for anyone to reserve. This policy applies to all current and future guests.On 4/10/2022- You again reserved the same property for the dates of 4/8-4/15/2023, this reservation was charged a deposit of $1,136.61 because you made the reservation in the correct week. We held the reservation in place until we had confirmation from the current renter if they would return the following year or not. Once the current guests confirmed they were returning we canceled your reservation and issued a full refund of your deposit on 4/13/2022 . You were again notified in writing that the current guest had decided to re-book and that your reservation had been canceled for this reason.As for the VRBO charges, we have no control over those fees since we do not physically hold them . For your understanding those are fees charged by VRBO directly to the customer for use of their platform. Normally those fees are refunded once a reservation is cancelled, especially if done by a host. I am very certain that VRBO will refund you these fees if they have not done so already.In closing, I would like to add that your unfounded accusations of theft by our office are very damaging and outright malicious on your part. Our office has been operating on this wonderful Island for 30+ years and we are in good standing with all licensing and regulatory bureaus. We are happy to provide all the evidence to the BBB or any other company you deem necessary. We gain nothing from canceling a guests reservation as we only make a profit once a reservation is made.Thank you,

My family and I rented a home in Captiva from American Reality for the week over Christmas for close to $10,000.00 This was to be our family vacation. Unfortunately, Hurricane Ian destroyed the island causing damage to the infrastructure, bridge, restaurants, stores etc. Lisa Wheeler called us today and stated that they will not be refunding our money and that they will be keeping our money for two year and we can apply it then. Also that our money will be released to the owner on December 30th. She was extremely rude and condescending stating that I will have to contact my attorney and that I chose to cancel my vacation and did not take trip insurance. I did not want cancel my vacation... there is no island to vacation at...Why should American Reality use my families vacation money for 2 years. I had also rented a place in Sanibel for a week in January from Sanibel Holiday. They contacted me the week after the hurricane and refunded my money the next week and could not have been more ethical and professional. American Reality will respond ,as they do to all complaints, with a paste and copied state statue. Ms. Wheeler also refused to provide us with her brokers name repeating over and over that they do not fall under the real estate commission that they are Chapter 509 Department of Business and Regulations. I have filed a complaint there also. Just a horrible company to deal with.

Dear Mrs. Skipper,Thank you for your review, however, we would like to clarify a few items so that other potential guests may not be misled by some of your comments. I would like to clarify that we understand that this is an unprecedented situation for guests, owners and all the locals which have certainly been affected the most. However, we have a confirmation in place (which you signed) to set a precedent for situations such as this, and it states that no refunds or changes to the reservation are to be given within the 120 day cancellation period. Even though, we are not required by our confirmation to give any concessions , both our rental office and property owners have agreed that guests should be given an opportunity to return to the Island when it is ready to host them again. Many of our long-standing customers have been very gracious and accepted because they also understand that concessions are being made when there is not a requirement to do so. Furthermore, you were given the opportunity to purchase travel insurance up to your final payment deadline, however, you declined even though we are located in an area that is affected by hurricanes on a consistent basis. Secondly, you make mention that our General Manager Lisa Wheeler told you to contact your lawyer, however, you were the one that initially threatened to contact your local attorney if a refund was not issued via an e-mail. We cannot prevent you from seeking legal counsel and as such this is the reason why our General Manager said that you were within your right to do so. Furthermore, we explained that once you seek legal counsel we must cease all communication with guests since it is now a legal matter and it is handled by our legal representatives instead. Also, we cannot attest to Sanibel Holiday’s rules and regulations, however, we are following rules that fall in line with those listed in our confirmation which is sent to guests on multiple occasions during the booking process. Regarding our Broker, his contact information is prominently displayed in our website and Mrs. Wheeler is correct in stating that the vacation rental business falls under a different jurisdiction than that of Real Estate Sales. Therefore, any complaints made regarding the vacation rentals business should be directed at the correct regulatory bureau which is not related to our Broker’s license. In conclusion, we are not keeping your money for two years but rather giving you the opportunity to return at a later date when you can enjoy everything our beautiful area has to offer.
