Splitting my time between Gainesville, where trash and recycling are picked up, and Sumter County, where they're not, has been made easy visiting this location. Specifically, the recycling center is very easy to navigate. The young lady who staffs the window is always pleasant, and the area where you place your recyclables is kept fairly clean. The bins are single stream, so you do not need to sort the paper, plastics and glass. Cardboard does have it own area, though.

I was putting plastics into the plastic recycling bin when I heard a angry voice behind me shouting that I was doing it wrong. Apparently he wanted ONLY clear plastic beverage bottles in the bin and no other plastic, to include the pvc pipe parts that I had inserted. The bin had no warnings about what not to put inside. He then asked me to crawl inside and remove the pvc. I absolutely refused to go inside the unsanitary container for his amusement. Service: Waste recycling

Helpful and friendly staff. I wish Sumter offered separate recycling- this is "single stream" recycling with newspapers plastic and glass comingled, and then separate bins for cardboard and metal. There is no charge for dropping off single stream or cardboard, I'm not sure about the others.
