Beachouse Lodge

We enjoyed our stay; the room is clean and it's relaxing. The reason for 3 stars; is the main reason we chose this location is it showed a boat dock/fishing pier. My husband called the week before our arrival to make sure we could dock a boat there. At that time we were told, during hurricane Ian, a boat from a neighboring dock took out the dock at the beach house lodge1.5 years ago. Nothing was stated on the site we booked through about the dock not being there. The site needs to be updated so others aren't disappointed as we were. Update photos & description. They have had plenty of time to update the site or repair the dock.

Our family of four visited the Beachouse Lodge this month. Heres our experience: FISHING PIER: The waters surrounding Bokeelia are known for great fishing. The Beachouse Lodge highlights a private fishing pier and the fishing opportunity. Area piers strategically extend 200 out to a drop-off where the fish run. Fishing here, combined with the pleasing accommodation images convinced me to book at the lodge. Problem is the fishing pier was destroyed months before! We only discovered this when arriving with gear, lures, and fresh bait. In disbelief, I explained what I found to the property manager and informed him that I wished to leave the next day and requested the remainder of the stay refunded. MANAGEMENT RESPONSE: The end of the pier was damaged from a rouge boat during hurricane Ian on October 6th. In our terms we dont guarantee any specific amenity due to forces outside of our control. MY THOUGHTS ABOUT RESPONSE: It is understandable that destruction of the pier was an act of Mother Nature, but I booked on January 17th, 2023, a solid 102 DAYS AFTER THE STORM. It seems to me that forthright representation of the property remained in control of Dream Vacation Rentals or Janjua Island Management, the owner. This Florida fishing stay was ruined because their website advertising did not match the reality. ACCOMMODATION: The Penthouse kitchen and bed were great. Its a fantastic open layout with triple-wide sliding glass doors facing the water in both rooms. The place retains a Tiki spirit. Condition of the accommodation was not great. Curtains were falling from the bedroom wall and the bug screens on the water side were both inoperable. When we arrived, we noticed filthy windows and the floor had not been swept. Later my daughter lifted the brown sofa seat cushions in the living area and exposed food crumbs and a lost flashlight, next I found a broken party mask on top of the blue sofa behind a throw pillow. LOCATION: Fantastic! Nesting osprey, pelicans and other seashore wildlife abounded. Two osprey nests are visible close to the property. Amazingly one morning an Osprey caught a large fish before our eyes and spent the next three hours enjoying breakfast on top of a pole. Good fishing indeed! OVERALL: I believe the Beachouse Lodge would be superb if the pier were rebuilt to look as it is advertised, and maintenance and cleaning were done in accordance with good housekeeping practices.
