I pay inside at the gas station always to avoid a "pre-authorization charge" at the pump..... I went inside and paid for $20 gas and was still charged a $20 pre-authorization charge in addition to my $20. The payment for the gas cleared immediately and 2 days later the "pending charge" still hasn't been released. The bank says they can't do anything until the store releases the hold and to contact the merchant. There's no phone number for this gas station. There's no way to contact them without going back. That's 48 miles away from my home as we stopped there on our way home from the beach. Do not stop at this gas station if you don't have disposable money to just let merchants hold on to as long as they please.
