What a beautiful piece of nature in the lower Florida Keys!!.... I've been there so many times and when I'm leaving, I'm already look forward to come back soon !!.... For me it's the nicest beach, or actually beaches, down there, because you can choose 3 locations of beaches.... Make a left turn after the Rancher Station and you have a wonderful, long stretch of the " Sandspur" Beach area... Make a right turn after the Station, you'll have access to the Gulf side and Atlantic side Beach.... You can also enter the old bridge, which I recommend to everyone, cause you'll have such a wonderful view from up there for pictures you'll never forget!.... You can even snorkel save a little bit around those rocks on the Gulf side, especially if you come with kids.... This Park is a really family park, lot's of shallow water to play and easy to watch and get them out of the water easily, if you have to..... Great Paddle Board place too....especially, if you have calm winds from NE.... I recommend that doing there too !!.... All in all, I highly recommend this place to have a good time in the sun down in the awesome Florida Keys!!.... Try it out, and you'll not being disappointed, I promise!!!.... Frank W.

Save yourself disappointment by calling rentals first thing in the morning, it was closed on 1st day bc of wind didnt notice any significant waves while the beach. Second day we were told no dogs allowed on kayaks (plastic, easily hosed off, so not sure why). Still giving 5 stars despite less than cheerful nor accommodating concession staff, and dogs are allowed (campsites/roads for walks only- no dog run area, which would be an awesome amenity to keep them from going stir crazy in the camper while humans is it the beach). Beautiful shallow water (still a bit cold in Feb), but amazing views in & out of water. Happy with campsite & clean shower houses. Except for highway noise- not horrible, campground was quiet. Rooms: Campsites were more spacious than Pennekamp SP. Had water, electric, grill, picnic table, & fence - useful for hanging beach towels. Nearby activities: Nothing nearby- had to travel off the key to nearby keys for restaurants, fuel, groceries, etc. Walkability: Walkable if you like long walks carrying supplies from your campsite. Biking worked well, also parking lots for cars nearby. Noteworthy details: Area by cabins (located on the other side of highway) has awesome opportunity to look over the concrete to view large fish hanging out by drop off. Also, dont bother to ask for food needing prep at concessions 20min (not 5 or 10min) before close. The kitchen(microwave & toaster oven) shut down has begun and not accommodating, entire concessions staff groan when you walk in and follow you with a broom.
