This is Ft. Blount Park not the Bartow Chamber of Commerce. Went to check the lighting for an evening event. I'm not really digging the blue/purple lights at night hope they change back to white.

SPEED TRAP CITY! While the local police are no doubt making lots of money enforcing speed limits, they are doing a disservice to the community. If you are unfortunate enough to live in Bartow, a typical ticket might cost you an entire week's wages! If you do business there, you need to have your head on a swivel to look out for heavy-handed cops. Part of a 4-lane divided hwy 60 in a non-residential area drops from 65 to 45mph for no intuitive reason, and the cops are just waiting to catch you! And, every time I drive through there, I see them pulling people over. If you have the choice, you may want to bypass this area at all costs! A shame, too, as there are several truck dealerships with attractive offers, and way cheaper sales tax than Hillsborough. But, any savings you attain will quickly fill the coffers of the police department or courts. A shame, too, as this city could be much better, if not for the unfriendly public policies. This over-policing does not protect or serve anyone, and is hostile to local business. I really want to buy a nice new truck, but will vote with my wallet to spend my money elsewhere. I could open a shop and hire people, but not if I have to deal with a police state.
