I have been visiting for 2 years and they are an excellent group. Those in charge of receiving visitors are a sweetheart.

The receptionist has very poor customer service. Arrived at the appointment time, and the door was locked, but she sat at the desk on her phone, watching for 3-5 minutes before actually opening the door. Then, when asking questions, it was continuous eye rolls and a tone like she didn't want to be bothered. There was no greating of any form. She did the intake while texting the entire time. And then got up and walked away saying "you're done now". This isn't the kind of service that institutions like these should be providing to people seeking help.

I was looking for mental services for my brother but I had to look for another organization because the receptionists are bitter, they don't know what ethics are, they don't know how to say things in a nice way, THEY ARE DISGUSTING.

Jillian - On behalf of our whole team I apologize for the uncomfortable experience you had with our staff. We always strive to interact with our neighbors in a professional and friendly manner, and we clearly failed with you. We do not tolerate this inexcusable behavior from anyone on our team. The staff member in question is being reprimanded, with a clear written warning that a repeat of such behaviour will cause immediate termination. Give us a chance to show you how our team members conduct themselves, you will not be dissapointed. Should you have any concerns, the name and contact information for the person in charge of receiving them and acting to resolve them is posted on several signs throught our offices.Again, my apologies.Manuel Celaya, Executive Director

Dear Mrs. Yesica Martínez:
We are greatly surprised by your comment, because in 28 years of serving our community in Washington, this is the first time we have received a complaint about the front desk staff. Furthermore, we are dismayed that you write about receptionists in the plural, assuming that you spoke with more than one person and they all treated you with bitterness, without kindness or ethics, and with disgust.
I personally spoke today with the receptionists, who have been with us for years, and none of them remember having spoken with you, or with any lady looking for services for her brother. Perhaps you dialed a number that does not correspond to us. Our number is (202) 234-6855.
As we are here to serve all our neighbors, I tell you that, if your brother is a minor, we only serve adults, but we will gladly tell you where you can go to care for minors. If your brother is an adult, I tell him that he is the one who should make the call, or alternatively, that he be on the line with you. As a first step, we are happy to connect you with the DC government's Department of Mental Health (DBH) service access line. Once you pass the filter of the requirements to receive services, we or any DBH-licensed provider that you choose, can provide you with services.
If you need help, let us give it to you. You can call the office at any time and ask to speak with Yessica.
Best regard,
Manuel Celaya
