I attended the Washington Center during my senior year of undergraduate. While here I was discriminated against by faculty, staff, and management. Most notably, I had an autistic episode that manifested similar to a panic attack after a teacher verbally antagonized and instigated me by repeating sounds and words that I had expressed made me feel anxious and upset. I left the classroom. A disciplinary complaint was filed against me, where the management of the program determined that I was a "potential threat" and removed me from the class. This was active discrimination as I had documented disabilities and disorders. At the "hearing", I had asked for my psychiatrist to be present in order to thoroughly explain why and how the professor had made the classroom an unsafe place for me, a person with a disability. They denied this request. Want to get discriminated against? Definitely go here. My overall experience in D.C., sans Washington Center was excellent. I attended law school in D.C. and loved living there. The Washington Center can respectfully eat dirt.

I had internships through the Washington Center during the summer of 2012 and again in 2013. It was an amazing experience. The apartments were really nice and spacious and it was very centrally located with the train station only two blocks away. I worked at the VA which was down the street from the White House. Getting work experience at a government agency in DC was invaluable and I believe it made me a unique applicant to jobs post-graduation. I had one of the few paid government internships with TWC so it may be different from others but I'd highly recommend this program based on my two experiences. Even if you're considering a program where you have to pay, I'd compare it to a Study Abroad program where you're getting to live in a new city and have a unique job experience.
