Capitol Hill Aikikai

Ive been coming to Capitol Hill Aikikai for almost seven years and I cannot say enough good things about Mike and Meipos style of teaching and philosophy, as well as the amazing community at the dojo. Aikido has not only given me the confidence to defend myself as a woman, but also is a highlight in my week. I regularly leave class in a better mood than when I arrived. Mike and Meipo started the dojo for the community. We go out for dinner once a week and have several other events throughout the year. Ive meet many incredible people and friends through aikido. And its the most diverse group of folks Ive ever been apart of - which makes for really good conversations! If youre looking for self-defense, a good exercise, or just a community within DC, I highly recommend Capitol Hill Aikikai

All round very positive experience. Experienced sensei's (male and female) teach three 2-hour classes Tuesday, Thursday nights and Saturday afternoon.  Good mix of experienced to not so experienced students.  Everyone is helpful and respectful at this Dojo. After a long pause, I am back enjoying Aikido again and love the atmosphere generated by those participating. I thoroughly recommend Capital Hill Aikikai to anyone interested in aikido - from the absolute beginner on up.

Mike and Meipo Sensei are very dedicated to their students and everyone interested in getting started on this wonderful Martial art. They take the time to demonstrate concepts and are very patient regardless of rank and experience. If you are a complete beginner do give them a call and try a few classes, you won't regret it.
