Stayed for around 10 nights recently for a business trip. Would highly recommend the Hotel for its location and its bright, clean and spacious rooms. The beds were also large and comfortable, and the toilets very clean.
The restaurant downstairs, Bistro Du Jour was also great for food. Most of the staff at the reception and guest services were very polite and welcoming.
The only downside was the attitude and behavior of one staff (who was on night shift at concierge). The day before check out I had requested to see the invoice in order to make sure everything was in order. I had overheard from colleagues that there were issues with their bill when they had checked out the day before. My colleagues and I are both ethnically Asian. When I asked the concierge to explain the occurrence of certain charges made to my hotel room, she informed me in a rude and dismissive tone that she had already "explained" those charges to me previously. This was the first and only time I had ever asked for the explanation.
Despite the experience, I did enjoy my stay at the Royal Sonesta and would recommend the Hotel for any business travelers in the future. The location of the Hotel is very close to the major Sites and museums of Washington D.C. (around 5-10 minute walk away).
