The dentistry team at A&F is exceptional. I think Ive written 5 reviews of anywhere in my life and this is the 6th because they are fantastic from scheduling, cleaning/checkup, dentists and technicians to insurance and payments. The office interior, and dental equipment are also the best equipment and setup Ive experienced at any dentist. We moved to DC from Switzerland and expected to be let down by the technology in DC but were instead blown away by the 3D camera scanning tech and the ability for the dentist to take a photo of my cavity then explain the procedure. We discovered A&F as Id lost a crown and literally walked in one day (the building is a bit daunting, but the location AND interior are great) and Dr. Obholz was fantastic explaining what happened and how she would repair. Crown replaced and no issue for months. Next Nina walked us through our own insurance (which she knew and understood better than me) and we even discussed pros/cons of other plans. We subsequently switched based on Ninas information and are now very happy with our GEHA dental insurance. I came back for a cleaning and had Wanique, who was great, explained what we were doing the equipment and all the steps (I ask a lot of questions) and then I met Dr. Bukai, who has an amazing chair-side manner, reviewed my check up and explained my cavity to me. I returned a few days later to have Dr. Bukai and Armando repair my cavity. Recognizing I am a nervous patient, Dr. Bukai walked me thru the procedure, even showed me a photo of the cavity (because I asked) and both he and Armando had excellent chair-side manner, checking in with me throughout. The repair was smooth, and Dr. Bukai and Armando were a great team. A&F Dentistry have quickly earned my entire familys trust, with our 12, 15, 17 years old also happy to go to A&F Dentistry, who also helped us find kids orthodontic solutions for 2 kids. We have found our family dentist in DC. If you arent sure of the care you are getting or feel like a patient number at your dentist and not a person, just check out A&F. Hope this helps.

I had a great experience at Aesthetic & Family Dentistry. The front desk greeted me in a very cordial manner, the dental hygienist Wanique who assessed my teeth was nice and communicative, and Dr. Obholz was very friendly, polite and did a great job explaining me the whole process. Ill definitely be back, and recommend this dental office to others.

Best dentist weve ever been too. My husband and I were both impressed with the thoroughness and expertise of the doctor. Weve been looking for someone who is as good as our family dentist we left behind in Philadelphia and we found her! Highly recommend.

I want to start out by saying Ive never left a negative review (not on Google or anywhere else). I should also say that I think this practice provides the standard of care, though Ive only gotten my teeth cleaned here, and havent needed any fillings or other more extensive dental work. In fairness, prospective patients should keep the following in mind: When I showed up for my first appointment after moving to DC, I was told the practice needed my dental x-rays or else they wouldnt provide treatment that day and Id have to come back. I didnt need new x-rays, but I was already at the office, so it was hard to go through the process of getting my last provider to send over the images. My options were get and pay for unnecessary x-rays, or drive home without treatment. This was frustrating, but I chalked it up to a misunderstanding. Fast forward a few months, and my partner needs to see a dentist for a small chip in one of her molars. My partner was slammed with work, so I called and emailed the practice to set up the appointment. Having gone through my own frustrating initial appointment, I arranged ahead of time for the staff to get my partners x-rays (which were very recent). The day of the appointment, we show up, and again were told that they dont have the x-rays, and if she wants to be treated, she has to pay for unnecessary new x-rays. I asked the staff member, with whom I was in email contact, why he didnt tell us this before hand, particularly since he said he would get the x-rays from the old practice. He said that he was only getting the x-rays as a courtesy. But he didnt get the x-rays, and didnt tell us he had dispensed with this commitment (so again, we didn't know there was an issue until we were standing in the waiting room). My partner didnt want to get a redundant set of x-rays for the second time in a few months, so we got turned away, and wasted a good part of our work day. At best, it seems like the practice is inconsiderate of peoples time and money: they were 2/2 on having us drive out to the practice only to be told that we had to pay for unnecessary imaging or come back another time. At worst, theyre doing this somewhat intentionally to bill for unnecessary x-rays. Again, the cleanings Ive received have been fine, but there are a ton of great dentists in the area, and there are plenty that dont do this. I would find a different practice. Update on my review: the owner's response is not accurate. Prior to the first appointment, they said nothing about bringing x-rays ahead of time. Prior to the second appointment, the staff affirmatively said they would get the x-rays, then only notified us they didn't get the x-rays when we showed up for the appointment.

Hi. This is a long message, and we think it reads in our favor (and deserves five stars!). What is clear is that we communicated the need for x-rays, and we do our best to secure such from other dental offices, but offices don't share the x-rays, and patients should have responsibility for their own medical records. Patient made the mistake twice. What may not be obvious is that it is malpractice to examine the patient without x-rays. That is why we are clear up front and require patients to ensure we receive their x-rays, or that we need to take new x-rays. It's a small price to pay for dental health. We wish this patient the best, and hope that he finds a practice that best suits his needs.
