Daughters of the American Revolution National Headquarters

DAR is an amazing venue that cannot be beat when it comes to an iconic DC wedding venue! The venue offers a number of different backdrops throughout the day. Even if it rain (as it did for our day), the backup locations are great! We were able to squeeze the ceremony out on the portico and our first dance on the rotunda during a rain window. We held dinner in the OByrne Gallery, which was beautiful with the natural light coming in the windows. Our guests loved when the reception started with dancing in the Foyer and socializing in the library. The duel environment offered something for everyone with the spaces still feeling connected! Amanda and her team are very responsive and happy to answer questions as they arise throughout the process!

A recent visit to the DAR museum was a pleasant surprise - the various period rooms were fabulous and really well done with lots of architectural/design details. While we werent necessarily that interested in the history of DAR - we did really appreciate the historical rooms. Staff were very pleasant and, like many museums in DC admission, was free.

DAR is a wonderful place to host a special event or wedding. The max capacity is 140, though I recommend under 120. Your wedding ceremony can be outside, with 2 indoor back up options in poor weather. Your cocktail hour can be outside or in the Library for a fee. Your dinner is usually in the O'Byrne Gallery, unless you have under 106 guests - then you can consider eating in the Library. Dancing is usually outside with the PA Foyer as a back up.

An often overlooked museum, it's definitely worth a visit! The interior is beautiful, featuring a library and about 30 rooms showing what homes looked like in the past.
