Dont recommend. Manager is a miserable personality to deal with. Not nice to staff and rather fake to customers. The quality of the services is pretty average and is generally rushed because they take on more than one customer at a time sometimes. She seems to overwork her staff (also based on comments the staff have made to me). Cant recommend and dont feel comfortable supporting this sort of business.

Alphie is excellent at cutting my hair, and I would definitely recommend J Lavish to others -- I've been going here for years. I have always had difficult to cut wavy thick hair, and so most of my life had just had a buzz cut since that's the easiest to manage. Alphie is a pro though and has been able to learn my wave pattern and make me look good!

There is nothing lavish about this salon, in fact they need diversity training. My sister shared with me the most horrific experience ever here at this salon. My sister, who is now a graduating senior at Georgetown University, wanted to get her hair done for the start of her final semester. She would normally get her hair done at home with our normal stylist, but she wanted it to be fresh just in time for the start of classes. The moment she walked in a male stylist looked at her, awkwardly, and said we dont specialize in Afro hair (her hair was already pressed out and in a bun), my sister, shocked and never having been in such a scenario before was confused and answered you cant do a wash, press and cut he then sighed, reluctantly said okay and they walked over to the hair washing area. I know what youre thinking, why stay? Well again, she wanted her hair done and over the phone they sounded more than happy to do it. This is 7pm the day before classes. As shes washing her hair shes on FaceTime with a friend and shares that shes looking forward to getting her hair done and wants to do a bob, he buds into their conversation (uninvited) and says I dont do bobs, if you wanted a bob you shouldve come earlier to be serviced by the stylist who cuts hair my sister says okay . In the end, as shes checking out he has the nerve to give my sister his number and says, we cant take tips at this register so you can Zelle me. At this point, my sister came to her senses and did not Zelle him a dime. I will be calling this establishment to make a verbal complaint but the world DEFINITELY needs to know that J Lavish does NOT specialize in Afro hair. Sick people.
