Freire Charter School Wilmington

I am extremely disappointed in this school!! My Daughter has an IEP which calls for small classes. They assured me they had had small classes, but shortly after my daughter attended school there, I was informed there weren't enough students with IEPs to have a small class. I went into the school to address the bullying my child had endured, in front of teachers, to find out they would not be honoring her IEP. I don't which is worse...the bullying in front of teachers who did NOTHING or the fact that they promised to honor her IEP and did NOT!!

I work for Freire Wilmington and I think this is one of best places I have ever had the joy of working. The teachers are passionate and engaged, the students come ready to learn, and the leadership keep everyone (staff and parents included) informed on what is happening throughout the building. The culture and safe environment is a HUGE plus for the staff and students. You have to feel safe to learn!

I want to leave the school now. Teachers have left. And thats when you KNOW the school is bad. But it isnt the school, its the ENVIRONMENT/STUDENTS. They are so disrespectful. Which is why i wanna leave. A few kids are so self centered its ridiculous. I see the disrespect some white kids get. They may yell at you to move your head if they cant see in class. A few teachers/staff are rude and have an attitude. Its a black school with a small percentage of other races. The school is small, and crowded now. The school has a good mission, its just not in the right area. Im looking into other schools for the rest of hs; i dont even want to continue at this school THIS YEAR.
