Conard High School

It's been 20 years but the racism that basketball  coach Benyai portrayed toward  my son, and Marcus Camby and several others often has me wondering  how his children treat black people today. His assistant  coach told us to go back to Brooklyn/ Africa because my son was asked a question and my son answered honestly.The asst. Coach suffered a heart attack soon after, but I do appreciate him apologizing to my son. Then when we went back to Hartford/ weaver Benyai got  mad after my son hit the winning shot against Conard he ran to the superintendent  and cried like a little girl. He kept that video tape because he couldn't bare to lose. He said my sons foot was out of bounds. He even inlisted a female student to lie and say my son attacked her after the game and called the police. He even had a team mate elbow my son in the mouth during practice to provoke my son to violence. Instead the teammate told my son what Benyai  told him to do. My cousin Lindsey C. James/Penney  had endured such hatred. The hockey coach enlisted another student to take his ice skates and slashed open his ankle ruining his season. It amazes me how the female coach said to my face, " I thought you were gonna be trouble when we first met". Why? I walked up to her with a smile and introduced myself.  To all black students living  in this state. It's bad when you go back to a black school when a white school gets mad. I speak about Benyai because he reminds me of the most ignorant president to date. (2020) I served my country in the United States Army and I served proudly even for racist like Benyai. My son played overseas( earned more then in the NBA) and running a successful basketball program back in Brooklyn. Lastly, the principal / Stringer at weaver who walked around doing nothing told my son, " accept the championship win or don't graduate."A black man that wouldn't fight for my son and a white man that TRIED to destroy my son in Connecticut are the same in this case. To all the black children that live here, I wish you the best in life. We where never planning on staying... I was there to take care of my elderly  family members both in Hartford and W. Hartford. I left at age 11. My mother knew that racism was not what she wanted for me from their school systems.Thank God.!!

My youngest attended, despite the expected and usual girl drama, she had a wonderful experience at Conard High School.  The academics, open social fabric, and sports were her interests.  The school offers much more for any students interest.West Hartford Public Schools are the place to be, learn, explore, and grow.  Even this old William Hall High School graduate thought the most of Conard High School.  He even allowed his off spring to enjoy her Conard Blaze Dazes untarnished by her Hall High Pop.
