I've wanted to write this for a long time. I was going to let it be, but I recieved a phone call today that just blew my mind. I saw Dr. Lebowitz for nearly 10 years, and in that time, he - at best - provided an exceptionally poor level of care. For the first 5 years, I was in good health and barely needed to see him. The first (and only) physical he ever gave me, which I needed for work, consisted only of basic vitals, eye/ear check, and knee reflexes before he tried to send me on my way. I then asked for him to run basic bloodwork (which he argued was unnecessary because I was "young", 25, and only needed it every 5 years). When I mentioned my persistent knee pain, he offered to document it as arthritis on my work forms, without ever examining me or doing imaging. I should have walked away after this experience, but as I was reasonably healthy and didn't need much from him, I let it go. In 2020 I began to experience progressively worsening health issues, which I brought to his attention. I saw him regularly, with the same issues, and he wrote them off for years. Blamed everything on my weight (lifelong issue), but offered no help when I asked for it. I tried to qualify for bariatric surgery and was turned down, which I told him - and at a later appointment, blamed my knee pain from A GYM INJURY on my weight, didn't want to do imaging, but asked me if I'd ever considered bariatric surgery... . He then refused to prescribed me Ozempic when I asked at three separate appointments ("It won't help you, the usual result of 10% weight loss isnt enough, it's too expensive, not covered by insurance"). I finally broke down after asking him for other options to help because I was truly struggling and didn't know what to do... he left the room as I was speaking and came back with a free sample. Turns out my insurance covered it after all. Since then, every single time over four years I fought for help, I was met with resistance and bias and refusal of help. I was told "fatigue in women is caused by stress, anxiety, poor quality sleep or not enough sleep. Are you seeing a therapist?" on four separate visits. When I was injured at the gym and asked for my injuries to be checked, I was told "If it hurts to walk, then don't walk", and not offered an exam or imaging... again. I can't count the number of times our entire visit consisted of me telling him my issues are worse, him saying that "I wish I had a magic wand", "I don't know what to do for you", "tell me what specialist you want to see and I'll refer you", and the ever-infuriating "Hang in there" at the end of EVERY appointment. Four months ago, I'd had enough. I met his "magic wand" comment with "I'm not here for a magic wand, I'm here because I need your help" which clearly meant nothing, as I left with no plan for the constant headaches, crippling fatigue, brain fog and debilitating knee and back pain. I found another provider - an APRN! - and in one appointment discovered I had an undiagnosed thyroid issue and osteoarthritis, and we are working on the rest. I can't help but to think that had I been taken seriously years ago, then I may not be in the position of needing my handicap placard because most days I can barely walk. Today, FOUR MONTHS since I've seen Lebowitz, I received a call from his office saying that he referred me to see Doctor so-and-so for my headaches. ... Apparently he just mentioned it to the nurse who called. It's sad to see I'm not the only one who has been neglected by this doctor. Whether it's a lack of knowledge and unwillingness to do research, or just ineptitude I couldn't say. But if you are a woman, or have a weight issue, or any issue of significance really, I would recommend looking elsewhere. Also, your appointment time means nothing, waiting an hour past was typical (I walked out of my exam room once, 50 minutes after my scheduled time, so I wouldn't be late for work) and the walls are thin enough for me to learn Lebowitz speaks the same way to elderly men with heart conditions. If I could rate him a 0/5, it would be too generous.

If I could give this a 0 I would. I called for a prescription refill and was told it was ready and of course for the 4th time it was never called in. I have to go days without my prescription bc they lie to you. When I called back I spoke to Daniella who was beyond rude and told me "if I don't like it leave" and hung up. I have worked 10 years in customer service and if I ever spoke to someone the way Daniella spoke to me I would be fired. Due to Daniella I will never go back and am switching Drs. DO NOT GO HERE!
