        I was referred to this office from a fellow colleague for a client of mine and what an incredible help they were! I spoke with Susan, she took the time to explain what my client could do, should do and what was the best approach to remedy their situation. She didn't tell me to have the client call in, she didn't rush me off the phone, as a matter of fact she was upfront that using their service at this time probably wouldn't be the best option for my client, yet she still talked me through a few different scenarios on how to best help. In the end, we didn't need their service at this time, but if we ever do, I'd call them immediately!

        Horrible experience. Maybe ok at the simplest tax filings, but no good at anything complicated. Leading up to tax day I called many times asking to chat with the preparer about the complexities of my filing, but was told they were experts and didnt need my input. When I explained that my situation was unique and complicated, they got rude and told me to let them do their job. A few days out from filing they sent me my prepared returns. Misunderstanding CT law, they concluded I owed tens of thousands of dollars more than I actually did. I explained they were wrong and they told me I still had to pay them their fee. It took me getting an emergency opinion from the CT Department of Revenue for them to correct their errorsa process they did not help with. Even still, they charged me full price. Later, they made additional errors on instructions for another filing, and denied any mistake. Throughout the process they were rude and even hostile at times.

        A friend mentioned Mike and his team at ABAPC to me a few years ago and I started asking for his assistance in calculating quarterly tax payments. This year my husband and I finally pulled the trigger to have them take care of our annual tax return, and we are wondering what took us so long to do so! Mike did a fantastic job and the whole team is very helpful and professional. We will definitely be asking ABAPC to prepare our taxes yearly moving forward!

        Very bad experience. He doesnt care about small businesses. You will provide all the documents for him receipts and bill etc. and he didnt follow what I gave him. Dont waste your time if you are a small business.

      While it is unfortunate that you did not have a good experience with us, your account of what happened is largely innaccurate. We acknowledge that you had a unique situation, and also that during tax season we operate on a first come first serve basis, so you had to wait for us to get through a large number of other customers who arrived before you did before we could review your situation and related documentation. When we did, our CPA again acknowledged your unique situation, called and spoke with a Revenue Agent at the Department of Revenue, who agreed with our original conclusion regarding your return. You were then able to speak with another Agent who put into writing that you did not owe tax in the way we originally interpreted. We then changed the return to be filed exactly how you had wanted. Ultimately, the return was filed as you requested, so it is not clear to us exactly what you are upset about. Regarding your other state return, you were told over the phone to include certain documentation with the mailed return, which you did not do. We can only do so much, at some point our clients also need to take responsibility for their part of the process for filing their returns. In general, as you can see in our review, most of our clients are very happy with our processes and performance.

      Karen, sorry to hear that you had this impression, we are a small business here in Connecticut and most of our clients are small businesses as well. Regardless of size we teach our clients about compliance and good business practices. These practices include utilizing bookkeeping programs and maintaining adequate record keeping. Sometimes when we are preparing returns for clients who decide not to use some of these recommendations, we require additional information or documentation about specific items in order to ensure we meet our own due diligence and compliance standards. Sometimes this produces results that are not what some clients anticipated, and while we understand that can be the case, we cannot waiver from certain requirements and standards, even if that makes our clients unhappy at times. We are sorry it did not work out, and we wish you well and hope you find a firm that fits well for you.
