Me dad has had health issues this year and unfortunately has been in a couple of facilities. Fox Hill has been the best place so far, it is very clean and the staff is very caring and pleasant. It is such a relief to say good night to dad as the care at Fox Hill has been exceptional. Thank you to the staff for taking care of our loved one.

I wanted to leave a wonderful review. I actually did, about 8 months ago. Sadly, necessity dictated that I remove it. At that point, my 93 year old mother was in short term care. The care was indeed fantastic. For the most part. When she needed to stay longer, and was moved to long term care wing, it was like she was in a different facility. As wonderful, caring, supportive and helpful as Debbie in Admissions is, she is an outlier, and unfortunately she stands alone. Short staffing, low pay and poor morale is no excuse for extreme neglect. The room my mom shared was tiny ~ her space had barely enough room to contain her single bed, a tiny shared closet, and a bed stand she could not reach and a wheelchair. Staff generally did not respond to call bells, and assistance to the bathroom rarely happened, leaving clothes soaked in urine, as well as Mom. For hours on end. Personal items routinely go missing. Things get stolen. It is an accepted fact. Even though I did not utilize their laundry service, clothes were often missing. Pens, nail clippers, glasses , pants, shirts, socks would simply disappear- overnight. Fast. The real reason that I am writing this cautionary review is none of the above, (and I could have written more..) but I am writing as my mother came very close to losing her life while in their care. Yes, mom is 93. But alert, sharp, awake, oriented, and mobile with a walker. She wasnt feeling well. Reported same. Several times. Three weeks ago, when I arrived to visit, I found her almost unresponsive in her bed. I demanded an ambulance-immediately. The aid looked at me like I was crazy, and proceeded to question why, and give me a hard time. Mom could not move, could barely speak. Blood pressure two hours before I arrived was 75/60. NOTHING WAS DONE. Once at Hartford Hospital, (ambulance drove LITERALLY 90 miles an hour on the highway. I knew. It was bad..), I was informed by a physician that Mom most likely would not last the night. Severe UTI. Kidneys shut down, not functioning. Sepsis. For her to be so sick, she had been unwell for quite some time. Hospital staff was alarmed that she had come from a SKILLED NURSING FACILITY. The day to day neglect is more than concerning, but if I had not insisted on getting mom to a hospital, she would have been dead that night. And, not one person EVER reached out to me to see how mom is. Of course she will never return there, and I have to make peace with my decision to leave her there as long as I did. Please do not make the same mistake for yourself or your loved one. I am not writing this review out of anger, or for any other reason except that I feel a duty to warn. I am sad that I was not more aware, and hope this might be helpful for someone else.

Fox Hill has always been very conscious of making sure standards and protocols are followed. Since day one my mother being a resident there and even more with the Covid outbreak they have been great and the staff is very well qualified. Great steps have been taken to protect the residents while offering each resident proper care. And the listen to families while always issuing information to us.

I had a meeting with Emily from recreation . From the moment I walked in the front desk staff was polite and pleasant the environment was clean and smelled wonderful. Upon entering the recreation room as an activity was finishing up I observed residents happily engaged. I was there for a school project but as someone who also works in health care I will say the over all environment was pleasant and well kept .

I would like to say how much Fox Hill had taken care of me & made my family at ease of my stay. I went in as patient to get care for rehabilitation/excersing Even tho it's a nursing home the residents were the most delightful I met each one. I felt like a Grandchild I know I was a little trouble at first meaning Crabby. I got better. Feeing Good. Apologies. I would say I met a CNA Hazel. We became best of friends. She took well care of me. My family just loved her. My Daughter had passed. My daughter loved talking to Hazel. She always had her little smile for Hazel. I didn't tell no one My Son did & Hazel went out of here way to make sure I seen the funeral Zoomed. She wanted to take to the Funeral. She cooked me a little meal. I felt better. If it wasn't for Hazel I would had never went outside. I didn't want to go She Help Me out the wheelchair. Put me on some glasses & sweater & off I went. Each day I went & I loved it. I could go on. & She keeps in touch see how the family doing. I Thank you Hazel Such a Good worker. Keep up the Good work. Bringing Sunshine & Warmth for Better health & living. & FOXHill. I Thank you & My Family Thanks you.
