Unfortunately, my experience with Will Sibley and the crew of New Beginnings was disappointing. Poor workmanship, neglect and excuses are what come to mind when I think of New Beginnings. A one-week project turned into months of follow up and multiple failed return visits to fix their mistakes. Please do not mistake the return visits as diligence on Will's part because he admitted they were his mistakes to fix and even told me that at one point he abandoned the project. For the sake of brevity, I wont include the long review I sent Will, I think a handful of examples and a few pictures are enough. The job was a simple replacement of a retaining wall and addition of steps alongside it, Will tried to upsell the job to include a couple of nice but unnecessary projects, we opted not to go with his suggestions and found other masons who did the projects for a quarter of the price. The job started fine, Will was onsite each day at first, he was in good spirits having just returned from a trip to Italy with his wife but he and his crew stopped coming regularly with no follow up other than a request for final payment weeks later, leaving behind garbage, masonry debris and unfinished steps with tripping hazards. When Will returned for his check I pointed out several points of concern which he quickly dismissed, he actually told me that leaving an 8-10 inch drop off from the top step was doing me a favor. Then the excuses began, later he said he couldnt finish because he was on vacation with his family and that he laid off his crew for the season but over the next several months Will would send his crew over unannounced multiple times, Luis failed to fix the issues and actually caused more damage, he drove through a portion of my fence during one visit. I finally decided to reach out to other local masons to review the project, each agreed with me and even brought up new concerns. In addition to the initial flaw in the design in which Will miscalculated the rise and run resulting in a half landing followed by an awkward top step that led to nowhere, they found the wall was lopsided which caused the steps to be crooked too, in other words it was not level, plumb or square. I brought the old concerns as well as the new concerns to Wills attention via email, including pictures, a full list and the masons suggestions for correcting the mistakes. Will admitted he abandoned the project months ago and told me his mother passed just before the beginning of my project, he promised to finish the job during his next visit. Having lost a parent myself I decided to cut him some slack but when I googled her obituary so I could offer my condolences, I realized that she did not pass before or even during the project, it was weeks later. When Will returned he was unprepared, he did not bring the list I emailed him so I gave him my print out and we reviewed each concern again. When I offered my condolences I asked about the timing of her passing, he stuttered, offered more excuses but ultimately promised everything would be fixed that day. I saw on the security camera that he put the list in his truck and left early, leaving his crew behind unmanaged. When I brought new/unfinished issues to Wills attention, he became defensive, he blamed me or said, hey mistakes happen. For example, his crew left a pile of masonry debris on my yard and his explanation was in short, Im sorry you found that, my crew through they put it out of sight. The last straw for Will is when Luis damaged the steps yet again. I saw on my driveway camera that Luis asked if a crooked cut was ok, Will shrugged and told him I think so? Again, Will received a full detailed review before I posted this and I asked him if anything was factually incorrect. I gave him every opportunity to address my concerns but his last response was simple, The contract has been fulfilled. Please see the pictures of some of my concerns.

Trying to work with Will from New Beginnings was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. I spoke with them on the phone about designing a planting plan at my house. Will said he could do it and came out right away to look at my yard. Then, nothing happened for a week and a half. I asked him about the status of the plan, and he replied that when we met, he "told me" he'd have it to me in 2 weeks. Although i didn't recall him saying that, i accepted it. Two weeks passed, and he delivered nothing. I then wrote a text to him asking about it, and he responded that he would get it to me that very day. The day came and went and I got nothing. I wrote to him the next day and he said he'd do it next weekend. The weekend came and went and he didn't send me anything, didn't apologize, didn't respond to multiple texts asking what was happening, and has basically failed to do anything. Meanwhile my effort to be out in front of this was wrecked by his delays, multiple unkept promises, and radio silence. Finally today i gave up. i reached out to a different company. I am very, very sorry that i trusted these people. They are utterly unreliable, and perfectly willing to lie repeatedly. I would give them less than 1 star if that were possible. I hope at least that this review will help to prevent others from making the same mistake I made -- the mistake of trusting these people. New Beginnings should be called "No Beginnings." they never even started.

We have used New Beginnings for many years and have been pleased with the quality of their work. They designed and installed both our foundation plantings and new front steps, as well as provided regular lawn and landscaping maintenance. It was a pleasure to work with them.
