The satellite branch in Putnam is permanently CLOSED!! Would it be too much to ask for the DMV to update their website?? Of course it would.

Worst place to go. You can have everything the site says you need but be turned away because they need specifics that they dont post. They just want to waste your time and money.

3/10 With its beautiful views and nice people the State of Connecticut it's majorly hindered by is widely ineffectual beauracracy and ineffective management at the state level. On top of that the prices for insurance in the former "Insurance Capitol of the US" are nearly double that of their neighbors for reasons that remain unexplained. While all Departments of Motor Vehicles are useless at best, Connecticut DMV is a special blend of Hell. Managing to both require your attention and completely ignore your needs at the same time, this department is the government equivalent to purgatory. If you can register your car in a different state, do so, I implore you! Having purchased a vehicle at a licensed and well-regarded dealership in the State of Massachusetts, I have been without a vehicle waiting for a full month for this department to have an answer to a minor malware attack that has all but crippled one of it's vendors. Of course when an emergency like this happened, the department got right on the issue deploying an simple and effective means of servicing their constituents, ignoring them. People were been unable file new registrations or renew old registrations for more than 3 weeks. The CT DMV found a solution. Pretend to offer a waiver to allow car owners to receive their emissions test when the service is back up an running and instead, make up any reason you can think of to deny these registration requests to protect their revenue stream. "i'm sorry sir i cannot approve your registration today because it is sunny outside." "I'm sorry sir I cannot approve your registration today because the vin check your dealer has performed a thousand times was filed in an improper format." And, "I'm sorry sir I cannot approve your registration today because I don't speak any english." Are all ingenious stalling methods and should be used with impunity. So if you're ever thinking, "Hey, Connecticut is a beautiful state I should live there," take it from someone who does. Punch yourself in the head until those thoughts go away and stay where you are. But yeah, other than all that it was a great buying experience! Thanks for reading!
