Here the nurses at night are resistant, I here with a stomach ache vomiting everything I eat I tell them if they have an interpreter and they tell me I don't need one, are you serious? They leave me waiting in the waiting room after they take my vitals, but they transfer the rest to the room and it is worth mentioning that I have not complained so as not to be creating a lot of drama here the service is terrible, do not come here Please It's horrible, they discriminate against you for being Latino in this hospital.

I had my daughter here. I'm from Hartford, but at the time had left my area for a short while. I made the choice to go to St Raphaleds instead of Yale for their reputation to be a smaller hospital and Labor and Delivery was good. I was in labor for over 48 hrs before i was rushed to an emergency c section. I had no problems with the Drs here, However I was mentally abused by the nurses. My daughter too. For anyone considering having your child here, don't. My daughter was born on MAT. Anyone who is on maintance program or subs, DO NOT GO HERE. They lied and told my that the Finnegan assessment system was no longer used and was outdated. I had a nurse rip my daughter off my breast while breastfeeding, And hold her like a football away from me telling me. I needed to calm down before she would give me my child back. I was sitting there topless humiliated, Demanding her to give me my daughter back. I did nothing wrong. I could not get a proper latch because my daughter was in withdrawal. I asked for a breast feeding council which they told me did not exist and that they needed to teach me. This was my second child, But because of The NeoNatal Absess, she was very sick. The nurses refused my bottles for daughter, and I had to keep my old bottles on ice. I was Hallucinating from being awake too many days, 5. 2 days of labor, 3 days of a sick baby. I asked them to take her to nursery so I could sleep. It should be noted I was a single mom and had no family with me. They treated me like trash and my daughter too. She suffered at their hands. I Asked to speak to my Dr,or the sup RN after another This incident with my nurse. She refused. Then applogized, only bc she knew she would lose her job. I then left with a DCF REFERRAL. My Mcconium was clean and I never had a dirty u a in the entire pregnancy. In fact , this was my second child and I had been on MAT with GREAT results and sobriety for over ten years. My daughter pooped until her butt bleed, she scratched her entire face up. Her muscles were so tight. She needed a dose of morphin, but the nurses said they don't do that anymore. My son at Hartford, had one dose of Morphine which made all the difference in his care, and his case. I can not begin to explain how awful they treated me and my child. I was Discriminated against badly. I wish i had reported my awful nurses. One in particilar, but my request to speak to a sup feel on def ears. After 5 days, my daughter was transffered to Yale New haven. Where we received the very best care. My daughter was too sick to come home and we had to stay several more days in Yale. It makes me sick the way I was treated. I didn't know about reporting to the state, the onsbudsman or any of my rights. Please, if anyone is considering going here to have a child, bc you may have heard it's a smaller Catholic hospital DON'T. My final and last son was born a year and half later at Hartford, where i learned The finnigan system was still real and still used. Hartford took my son so I could safely sleep. They took such a good care of him. Literally it wasn't safe for me to have my daughter anymore. Five days of no sleep , and I was literally hallucinating but she was so sick and crying that I couldn't get any rest and I was afraid that if I fell asleep , I would fall asleep on top of her. She could not tolerate being put down, so I had to keep myself awake. For anyone who doesn't know, breast milk is the best medicine for Neonatal abstence syndrome. And they took that from me. If I could back right now, Id make sure I had that nurses liscence. But the truth is it was more than one who made it terrible. Please don't have your child here.
