I have visited Porto's numerous times to pay respects to various family members and friends. Most recently it was my turn to take care of the arrangements for my brother. I took the time to review multiple funeral homes before choosing Porto's and I was in complete awe with the review I read here on 1/18. My experience couldn't have been further from that. Clem was one of the most kind, gentle-hearted men I have ever come across. He took the time and explained the process to me. I never felt pressured nor did I feel stupid with the questions I was asking.  I know that the East Haven location is undergoing renovations and Clem was so apologetic regarding the appearance- I never even noticed. The inside and outside are meticulous!  I watched my brother suffer in the end and was not sure whether to have an open casket. Clem left it up to me and I am glad he did. Everyone who visited during the wake couldn't stop commenting on how great he looked. Thank you Clem and thank you everyone from Porto's for making something so sad, so much easier.

Horrible experience, after a family member passed away, we selected Portos to handle the services.  What a huge mistake, the Funeral Director was a complete jerk.  He bad mouthed his own family in front of us.  They had a very small TV for the video, there was paint peeling from the furniture in the home, especially the post in front of the casket.  It smelled like an "old home".   The Director left his 20 year old son in charge of the Calling Hour Service, we had over 300 people come through and the boy was no help at all.  The day of the services, he was a completely rude to my family.  He must have under estimated the services, because he made up charges such as delivering flowers to Hospice, multiple newspapers ads and cosmetic services to the tune of $1200.  In the end, the Funeral Director was a bully, he was very disrespectful to a new widow.  Seriously, who does that?
