This housing complex has been a refuge for many low income people. In New Canaan there is a lot of hostility to those who have been less fortunate than those who on average have a $200K average household income. Management companies have tried to make Canaan Parish a good place for those who are low income, disabled, elderly and otherwise in need of basic housing shelter
At this point in 2020 the housing is being partly demolished with federal, state and some local funding going to a high rise to house the 60 or so units to comply with the state of CT's rule to provide more affordable and low income housing. This development is costing millions and millions of dollars, staggering sum frankly to demolish that few wanted to create high rises. It is hard living in a construction zone for the many families who are trying to cope on a daily basis. Why haven't they been polled before this started to hear whether or not they were happy about their apartment building and what they wanted??
