I would strongly reconsider renting from this organization. No matter how clean and perfect your apartment is at the close of the lease, they will withhold a large amount of your deposit for cleaning.

RENTERS BEWAREKuchma corp is run by a slimy, perverted, greedy man named Phil Kuchma. If you look up reviews, everyone tries to paint him as the "saint" of Bridgeport.Well I'm here to tell you the truth about him.He will put the charm on and exclaim how he wants good people in Bridgeport and tell you how you're the perfect fit. He will make the location of his apartment seem like its quiet and safe. Then you move in.First let's talk about the area: Bare, a restaurant across the street which he is the landlord of as well, turns into a club at night and BLASTS music until 2 AM. It doesn't matter how many times you call the police or complain to Kuchma- nothing will be done. In addition, be prepared to have 911 on your speed dial because you will witness quite a lot of disturbances and fights right outside.Phil has no desire to keep you happy, as he boasts before you sign the lease. He rented out our parking lot with a 2 day warning that we would have to pay for parking elsewhere. To top it all off, it was for an Oktoberfest event that he allowed to have live music play RIGHT outside our windows all day and night. Sounds peaceful right? In the 2 years we lived there he raised our rent and we could never understand why out electric bill was always so high. With no dishwasher, washer or dryer- trending at a near $6 a day was outrageous. We later found out that we were (illegally) being charged for the hallway lights in the building and the flood light in the back of our building.Upon moving in the walls were scuffed, past tenants (via Ben down there) holes from pictures, and stains on the carpet were all left for us. I take pride in my home and we made damn sure to leave that apartment in better shape then what it was when it was given to us. Did that stop Phil, the little dirtbag, from trying to charge us $560 upon moving out? Nope!! He has a nice little system going on where he charges his tenants for "damage" and then never does anything, leaving it for the next tenant and their security deposit. My car even got a nice big scratch from the snow removal, in which he of course tried to avoid blame, and yet his workers (WITHOUT MY PERMISSION) plastered cement all over it to cover it up!!!! Phil- "looks fixed to me!"I can't say enough bad thing about this man and his corporation. He's slept with past tenants to give them a break on rent and you will see him at his office at the wee hours of the night and on holidays, cheating on his wife, or so the talk around the town goes. He's a disgusting and evil person and I pray for the day karma gets him. Do not be fooled by his charm unless you want him to steal all of your money. Take your $1400 elsewhere because Bridgeport will always be the scum of CT and it is not worth that price to live there.

Horrible experience.Writing a review for the apartment building at 323 Fairfield Ave, owned by Kuchma corporation. I work in Westport and decided to try out Bridgeport because I had read some cool things about how the city was undergoing a renaissance. After viewing a 2 bedroom unit on the second floor, I was taken in by the size/price ratio which would have been untouchable anywhere closer to my work, and the fact that I could easily walk to the train station in the morning rather than brave the traffic on 95. Also Phil offered my basically ten days rent free since the unit was unoccupied which made it much easier to move in with my other lease ending. So what went wrong? Well, first of all I probably should have viewed the apartment at 1am so I could experience what it was like trying to sleep inside a bar. The several establishments (mostly Bare, maybe also Two Boots) around the corner from my unit played music loud enough that I could clearly understand the lyrics from inside my apartment, and it frequently kept my two kids awake. Maybe the units facing the courtyard are tolerable, but I was actually on the corner of the building that was shielded from the bars and it was still horrific. Not to mention the fact that after the bars close you can hear the drunken patrons screaming at each other in the street right outside your window. Finally, the city was no help at all. One time the electric company decided to do some kind of work directly outside my window starting at 11pm.... the noise was so loud I had to shout to be able to talk on the phone when I called the police, and the dispatcher gave me the most unbelievable attitude I had experienced before doing nothing. Also, if I had viewed the unit in the evening I could have experienced the stench of marijuana and cigarettes that filled my bathroom anytime the neighboring tenants were home, or walked by them smoking in the stairwell. At the end of the day, I would have mostly thought it was my fault for moving my family into a cesspool of an apartment without really understanding what the neighborhood was like, but the move out experience really takes the cake. Kuchma corporation takes two months rent as a security deposit, but also has a clause built into your lease that you have to pay two months damages if you decide to abort the lease. I was thankful to have an escape clause and paid the two months, thinking I was going to get almost all my security deposit back since I had only lived in the building for three months and had kept the unit in good shape. Nope. After leaving I received a bill for"scuff marks", "drill marks on the cabinets" - which is out and out a malicious lie, I never had a drill in the apartment, and "water marks on the cabinets". The total for this damage was over $1700. I was literally floored, but if you have any idea what a hassle small claims court is, especially given how hard it is to take a day off work and the fact that I didn't take any pictures at move out, I don't really have any option to try and get my deposit back. DON'T RENT FROM KUCHMA.... THE PRICE LOOKS GOOD BECAUSE IT'S A HORRIBLE PLACE TO LIVE, AND BECAUSE THEY ARE GOING TO STEAL TWO MORE MONTHS RENT FROM YOU WHEN YOU MOVE OUT.
