Great with trauma, social anxiety, and provides progressive growth. I have struggled with trauma for a long time and Dr. Adamakos has a positive approach and gives you small steps to grow and over time I have felt so much stronger snd confident in myself. I have always felt understood and supported by Dr. Adamakos. I highly recommend seeing him!

Dr Adamakos made my 10 yr old sons anxiety worse. He gave him such advice as dont go to your parents for hugs when you are scared or sad. And he suggested that to correct his anxiety I punish him when hes too scared to do things alone up to and including letting him pee himself if hes too afraid to walk to the bathroom alone because of the monster in the hall. The man upset my son so much hes now scared to meet anyone new.

This psychologist rubbed me so wrong and I want to share my concerns so he doesn't harm others. Have to agree with the other reviews I've read online (not as much here but on other websites like RateMDs--I don't trust ZocDoc as people can easily fake their own reviews there and he clearly did because many were written the same week). I have myself seen and brought my kids to over ten psychologists over the years. Harry Adamakos is ABSOLUTELY terrible with kids. No sensitivity, bad bedside manner (likely on the spectrum, which is nothing to judge and fine in general--I have a close relative on the spectrum--but not if you need empathy from a psychologist), and seems almost mildly sociopathic and deviant himself. Like he was trying to cause them anxiety due to his own childhood trauma or hangups. I would love to sit down with him and ask him questions about his own childhood and better understand why he has this unconscious dislike of children. He also comes across as being outdated on general progress that's happened in the world of psychology and hasn't read anything to keep himself up to date--I mentioned a few terms I learned as an undergraduate in psychology classes 20 years ago and he didn't know what I was talking about. Not an empathetic person. Not someone I'd ever trust with a child ever again. Frankly shouldn't be in this line of work.
