Petersens replaced the carpet in two bedrooms. The design consultant was very helpful, the estimator was friendly and efficient, and the installers were fast, careful, and did a great job. What more could you ask for? An A-1 terrific experience from start to finish.

We hired this company to install LVT on our stairway and carpet in our basement, over some potentially asbestos tiles. This is the 3rd time I have replaced the carpet in this home and have never had an issue. When the estimator came, the tiles were uncovered and very visible. In fact, we walked all over them. He asked me to remove a few loose pieces around the edges and to remove the linoleum that was already on the stairs to save a little money before the install day. Then, he said, it should be no problem to install carpet on top of the tiles with that work done. The estimate seemed a little high, but the reviews looked good, so we moved ahead and paid half the estimate to begin. This was the last good moment! The first day of install (3 days before Thanksgiving), no one showed up. I called at noon to find out what was going on and was told they had missed putting me on the calendar. They rescheduled to only do the carpet for the day before Thanksgiving. That morning, a couple showed up (apparently they actually subcontract the work out) to take measurements. They came in grumbling that they had gotten the day off and had felt pressured last minute by the service manager to come in anyways. They saw the tile and looked worried, but said it should be fine. Then they left to cut the carpet and get supplies. They returned while I was out on a few quick errands, so they couldn't have been there long, but I received a call from the salesperson that the tile was breaking up and they could not complete the job. But she was quick to add that I would have to pay for the carpet that had already been cut. I returned home and found the couple was already gone. A pile of carpet was on my basement floor. And 2 rows of tile out from the wall had been completely broken up (not sure how that happens while laying tack strip). Over the next few weeks, Masters/Peterson sent over all of the "options available" that all would cost me $1000s of dollars more than the original estimate and then seemed surprised that I could not afford these alternatives. When I began voicing my frustration, the owner and the salesperson came to take a look at the issue. The owner did offer a few other solutions (either expensive or uncomfortable), but mainly seemed to want to make sure I knew they had done nothing wrong and the blame was squarely on me. He claimed I had been expressly told by the estimator that I needed to remove ALL of the tile before they could install the flooring. Therefore, I would need to at least pay the cost of the materials they had ordered. Then the salesperson actually joined me in explaining to the owner that I had just been asked to remove a few small pieces of loose tile around the edges. Apparently, he didn't get it. The next morning, they sent me invoices for all of the materials. With Christmas approaching, I spent some time looking into the alternatives the owner had offered, but all of them turned out to be several thousand dollars more. As this issue escalates, Rick (I think the owner), has continued to act like a bully, essentially called me a liar (which I'm sure he will do with this review), demand payment, refuse to come get the pile of carpet out of my basement (because "it's [my] material" and "no refunds or exchanges"), and claim that they had insisted I remove the tile from the beginning (which is completely untrue). I have posted the estimate, which shows I need to remove the "loose tile" which I described above, but he now translates that to be the entire tile floor. I will be working with my credit card to hopefully get my deposit back. But now Rick is threatening to seek payment otherwise. He also claims that his team has been very thorough in their explanation of potential problems with the existing floor, but has only been so since dumping the carpet on me. Hiring these guys is like getting mugged in an alley! I had to learn the hard way! Save yourself a huge headache and go somewhere else!

We had a new floor put in by Petersons Flooring this last fall. It was LVT: Luxury Vinyl Tile by Armstrong. We decided to use Peterson's Flooring because of the almost entirely 5 star reviews. We have lived in Ft. Collins for 40 yrs and have never had an experience like this. After a less than satisfactory experience, I now have huge doubts about this system of reviewing. There were many issues from the start. We were not informed about all the information needed when choosing this type of flooring: it has some very particular characteristics that make it a high maintenance choice and great care must be taken to keep it in good condition. It was quite expensive, so we expected it to wear better and be at least as durable as the sheet vinyl we had previous to this. The owner did follow up with some further work but there are still some bigger than expected gaps between the tiles, in some particularly vulnerable areas (next to exterior doors, in bathrooms, etc.) The tiles have a 30 yr warranty but the underlayment has NO guarantee, so, with gaps between the tiles, water is bound to get in. The floor looks beautiful but it was put on without the permanent adhesive that was recommended by the manufacturer (rather than the temporary type) and was not rolled with the heavy roller that is also recommended. It was done three weeks later, after our complaints. The owner is somewhat difficult to work with and seems to care mostly about getting paid. I would say that buyer must beware and look up what you are getting into with LVT, because this company may not tell you what you might need to know. There were many other things that I could mention here but will not except to say that the cove base that they came to repair is now detaching from the wall and there are still some wider than expected gaps between the tiles. We will NOT be using this company to install our new carpet when the time comes, and we will be sure to warn others about what happened here.

I am truly sorry that you feel so strongly that we aren't willing to help you. As we have stated numerous times, if you removed even the perimeter asbestos tiles, we would be able to complete the installation without issue. From my understanding, a homeowner can remove asbestos without contracting an abatement company. We, however, cannot because we aren't licensed. Those tiles on the perimeter are loose and that is why they were breaking when we tried to nail tack strip through them. As required by law, we stopped as soon as we began to disturb the asbestos too much. We would/will be happy to complete the installation if the asbestos materials are not impacting our work. The materials were special ordered for you and non returnable so we have provided you credit for everything we could return.
