In our first meeting with August Delarue, a main theme that caught our attention was his focus on maintaining bi-directional communication throughout the process. This held true and is what I believe is key to a successful custom home project.
While planning the various phases of the project, August made several construction detail suggestions to improve our home efficiency and also helped ease the overwhelming process of making selections for items most people have not previously thought much about.
Our home was scheduled to break ground just as the pandemic started in the spring of 2020. While we weren’t sure what to expect, we moved forward with the process. The pandemic would offer many unknowns to the construction industry, however our project carried on without many delays and was completed on time in about 11 months.
Delarue and his project team were great to work with and are truly professionals in their trade. They kept us up to date on what was happening and what to expect and were able to execute our unique construction details while bringing their own suggestions to round out a great home.
We’ve been in our home for six months and couldn’t be more happy.

August was extremely helpful throughout all phases of the project, and he thoughtfully balanced listening to our opinions/ideas with sharing his own experiences and insights. DeLarue Construction has made our dream home a reality. August was able to turn our conceptual vision into a beautiful home that we’ll never want to leave. We had no experience with building, and August was with us every step of the way, making me feel engaged and letting me direct the results without ever feeling overwhelmed about the details. August DeLarue built my dream home in 2015. I had never embarked on a project like this before, and working with August made it joyful and exciting. Challenging of course, but also such a great learning experience, with August guiding me along the way. His ability to listen and hear what his client wants, without inserting his own agenda, is a special quality, and was very much appreciated. He helped keep me within my budget, and got each part of the build done in a timely manner. All that, coupled with his creative problem solving skills, makes him the builder of choice in Chaffee County, in my opinion. Or anywhere else!

Building a custom home is complicated. Doing it from a distance of 900 miles makes it harder still. August DeLarue kept us in the loop from start to finish. His patience with us was admirable and appreciated. Were there hiccups? Yes - I said it was complicated - but August stepped up to make it right, taking responsibility. August was the calm in the storm, with a smile on his face, getting it done in a timely manner. The end result was a well-built, high quality, beautiful home. We worked well together and didn’t hate each other at the end. To the contrary, we now consider August our friend.
