My son, brother, nephew and I fished the Arkansas with guides Kyle and Matt this past weekend. We used spinning rods which fortunately Salida Anglers allows. This is important as no one but I had ever used a fly rod and speaking from experience, trying to learn to cast a fly rod for the first time on a raft going down river at about 5 miles an hour is not a pleasant experience. Kyle and Matt were very patient with us as we learned to cast spinning rods to within a foot of the bank to catch our fish. Both guides were very conversational and instructional which made our day relaxed and enjoyable. Between the two boats we landed over 80 trout ranging from about 17 inches down to 6 inches. Although we lost over 20 lures to rocks, tree branches and the "unknown" underwater snag our guides were very happy to tie on more. Note that we brought about 20 or so lures with us which helped keep us in the action with the right lure for a longer time. I recommend you call ahead and talk to Becca who booked us on our trip and figure out what to bring. You don't want to let a lack of lures cause you to reduce your catch. Also, Becca is really helpful and flexible in the booking process. My brother and I really appreciated that. Overall this was a tremendous experience and something the four of us will remember for ever.

Expecting to just go on a regular rafting trip, we were amazed by the cooperativeness of the whole Salida Anglers team.
After a wonderful and exiting rafting trip on Browns Canyon with Kyle, who pushed us forward two and backwards one, they turned our trip to Colorado into an memorable outdoor experience by equipping us with fishing gear and their expertise for three awesome days at the Arkansas River.
We would definitely recommend Matt and his fantastic Salida Anglers team to anyone visiting the Salida area.
