I'll give them a 4 for convenience and the fact that you don't have to deal with a big hospital for an outpatient procedure. But, don't be the last patient of the day. The recovery staff must have had a long day, as they wanted to rush me out of there and get home. Not a pleasant feeling, 3 stars for that. Then came the billing, 1 star for that. Very confusing billing that comes from Phoenix, but with a mailing address in Los Angeles. They take four months to send me a bill, requesting payment in ten days. After I paid it online, they had the audacity to call me to try and collect the payment I had already made. Obviously this place is just another cog in a massive health care corp and they're really just in it for the money. Too bad, as they pass themselves off as a local-ish place with local doctors.

Worse surgery center Ive been to in all of CO & all 5 states Ive ever lived. My check in time was at 1pm & the injection time Never Occurred. Yet they give u a strict time to stop eating & drinking when they do things on a whim. Prep started ok & my nurse was nice. Things went smoothly until it was time for the IV. I warned my nurse I am a hard stick because I have wimpy tiny veins that are deep. She didnt want to try, but I kinda wish she had as she seemed like the type of nurse who wouldve listened. She called someone else over & she didnt like what she saw & so they called over their so-called best IV expert on duty. She kept wanting to go for my wrist. I emphaticatically said, No Way & said she needed to listen because if she goes for the wrist Ill leave. Its very painful & Never works. She found a small one on my index knuckle. I told her it's a common spot for IVs for me. I looked at the needle she had & said Jeesh look at the size of that needle. Its likely bigger than my vein. Dont you have anything smaller? I told her shell get it in, but the needle is too big so itll blow. She scoffed like I was too demanding and whimpy and replied believe it or not this is our smallest needle! I wish could've been wrong, but sure enough she got it and it blew up. I've had too many procedure & know my veins. Patients always know their body best. She looked at my other hand & then asked if she could try my feet. I said no, I had a recent surgery on the left & I questioned why go to my feet when my hands/arms have barely been tried. She gave up saying she couldnt find anything so maybe the doc should try. I agreed. The doc was pacing in front of my area during most of this & he comes over & says we could do the injections w/o sedation as it really doesnt hurt that much. I said to him so you dont want to try an IV? Oh me, sure I can try? So no one asked him to try. As he unsuccessfully tried I explained why I wanted the sedation. I said injections were attempted with interventional radiology at Skyridge and they had to withdraw the needle because of the pain and no sedation. He was nice so I let him take a look at my one good foot and he asked the nurse standing watch to get a pediatric needle. I made the comment I didnt want the other nurse to try in my foot because she hardly tried on my hands/arms before wanting to stick me in the foot w/ her harpoon so I didn't trust her, but if he wanted to look thats fine. I told the IV nurse to try other places before going to the foot, but the the nurse standing watch twisted my words that I only wanted the doc to do my IV. I was right to not trust the so-called best IV nurse on duty as the doc asked the nurse watching for a pediatric needle. How egotistical and unethical on her part to lie about not having smaller needles! She would've easily gotten the IV on the first try using an appropriately sized needle, but she didnt listen to her patient. Patients know their bodies, especially ones that have had years of injections and over 20 surgeries. How can she be any good if she doesnt listen! The doc didnt have success either, but his heart didnt seem into. It was going on 3pm and I was The nurse standing watch said we can only stick you so many times. I commented to her, yes but usually when I tell a surgery center Im a hard stick they prep my hand or arm with heat to bring out my veins to have the best chance. She then went & put a warm towel wrapped around my arm, but the doc was done trying and offered again to do the injections w/o sedation. It was 3pm & I wasn't even up next, but nurses did appeared and were done trying. I want those injections so badly. They were for diagnostic purposes. Everyone quit and I wasted 2 hrs, my driver wasted 2 hours. The practice manager didn't care and wasn't apologetic at all. I was lied to, I was inadequately prepped to find a good vein, my suggestions and requests were ignored, they ran late, but didn't bother to work with me anymore, & beyond the lack of apology, it was somehow all my fault for their incompetence.

Hello Kathryn, I am glad we were able to connect by phone last week about your complaints regarding the IV experience. I hope you understand we put our patients first and do our best every day. Our preop nurses start hundreds of IV's every month and it's rare that they have these types of complaints. I wish you well and please know we care about you.
