image Front desk was unhelpful- I am told to show up there by a specialist (in the same building), I show up- they have no information treat me poorly like Im supposed to know where the order is or what the details of the order are for. I dont know this information because Im not the doctor- its frustrating that health care assumes the patient knows whats going on when they usually have no clue and are just following instructions. They take no effort to help me (despite the fact they can see me managing several small kids waiting patiently to get this imaging done). They say they will call the doctor to figure it out. I sit down with my children and watch them never pick up their phones to call the doctor which is in the SAME BUILDING- I then call on my own phone and have the doctor resend the order. I approach the desk to tell them they just re-faxed the order. They stare at me blankly and say ok- I ask can you check? They just say well keep an eye out for it. I sit back down and wait 10-15 more minutes- at this point my toddlers are getting restless and Ive received no guidance or instruction. I approach the desk and ask how long I can expect to wait. They tell me oh we havent received the order of . Wow. I ask them if they planned to let me know this or just let me wait around indefinitely- of course they cant answer that question, so I ask ok well I just called, did you even try to call? One of the ladies helplessly says I tried and I couldnt get through which sounds odd since I just had success getting through. At this point I realize theyre not going to take any effort to help me, the responsibility always ends up with the clueless patient trying to manage the terrible systems and communication between healthcare professionals. So I stand at the front desk pull out my phone and call the doctor and SHOCKER I successfully get through. They, again, assure me theyve sent the order so at this point I hand my personal cell phone to the front desk so they can try to resolve their communication problems that theyre having from within the same building and cant resolve with their own phone lines or fax machines-no we have to use the patients cell phone to get this handled.. An absolute joke. Over an hour later I finally get the order in their system by my efforts alone , not because of anything proactive or remotely helpful from the front desk.
