Working with Gary on our taxes this year has been the worst experience I have ever had when working with a "professional". I have never left a 1 star review before, but I have to do this to hopefully help future potential clients be spared from this accountant and the experience we've had. There's honestly too many issues to list, but to name a few, he miscalculated our income by over $70,000, resulting in a difference of $20,000 in taxes. We identified this mistake and mentioned it to him, and he had no explanation nor apology for the miscalculation. He also incorrectly sent out 1099-NEC forms to our clients as opposed to 1099-MISC forms, so now our clients are subject to self-employment tax, which they should not be. When we brought this to Gary's attention and asked him to correct this mistake, his response was basically "too bad, so sad", and would not do anything about it. He also made us feel like we were inconveniencing him for every screw up he made. He also messed up our quarterly tax payments that we made for our business, not only putting in wrong dollar amounts, but also putting the payments on the incorrect returns (we have multiple returns for multiple businesses). This ended up costing us $1,000 in missed refunds, and now we are having to file an amendment on our own to recoup our $1,000 that should be in the form of a tax refund. He also incorrectly depreciated our car, as well as depreciated mileage and vehicle expense (its one or the other, not both). Gary also did not sign the tax returns he prepared in the preparer box. This is illegal, as a paid preparer of a tax return must sign the return. Reading other reviews, I am not the only one who has experienced this, and it sounds like it may be because his license is expired. This leaves the individual liable for any mistakes on the return as opposed to the accountant who prepared the return. In our case, the tax return was done incorrectly in so many ways that we ended up preparing and filing our own return as opposed to using the one that Gary prepared. We have asked Gary for a refund for our personal return which was done so incompetently and incorrectly, as well as our 1099 project which was also done incorrectly, but as of the time of writing this no refund has been given. I will update this review if he does decide to do the right thing and refund us for these two return projects. Throughout all of this I have called and left numerous voicemails for Gary, and emailed him asking for a call back to go over the details of our returns. Not once has Gary given me a call back. He tried to file our returns without speaking to us even one single time. This is absolutely ridiculous. His email communication is also the worst communication I have ever experienced. Please spare yourself from this experience and look elsewhere. We paid Gary over $1,000 to do nothing for us, and in the end we ended up filing our own return. Not to mention he also tried to double charge us. Cannot overstate how bad this experience has been.

We are 3 weeks from the 2023 income tax filing deadline and I called Gary in need of professional help and filing services for my tax return. Gary listened to my situation and needs and provided suggestions that I was not previously aware of during our phone consultation. Gary's listens to you, asks questions and makes sure you feel heard. He is very patient and knowledgeable and I feel very confident in working with Gary for the 2023 tax year and forward. My free initial consultation with Gary was very informative. Gary provided me with all the details that I need to know. He also agreed to help me file my taxes in New York and Colorado, since I recently moved. I hope everybodys tax season will go as smooth as possible with Garys help!
