Just 6 days ago I had a spinal fusion done due to a pretty significant bone spur. I was having all kinds of problems with my shoulder and back. I felt horrible for almost 3 years. MRIs, X-rays trying to figure why my body was hurting so much. I had been working with several doctors and never getting to a definite answer. Until I went the UC health spinal team. Dr Duhon and Dr Barlow diagnosed me and doing the recommended surgery has given my life back to me. I was certainly not happy and was fearful about having spinal fusion. But, I could not have had a better outcome. I knew I was better coming out of anesthesia. Excellent Excellent surgeon and staff. Thank you Dr Duhon and Dr Barlow and the UC health spinal team.

Upon review of my MRI reflecting severe spinal compression at C4-5, my neurologist recommended that I go immediately to the ER. The neurosurgeon on staff, Dr DuHon, never even spoke to me in person. He relayed that my issue was not urgent and that has office would call to get me on his calendar for a visit. When you are sent to the ER by your neurologist, it is unsettling to say the least. But when the neurosurgeon is the reason youre there and he cant take five minutes to speak to you in person, that speaks volumes to a poor bedside manner and lack of compassion. I paid a $150 copay and hell probably see at least four times that amount in income, just for taking 30 seconds to assess and shoo me off. Needless to say, I have a legitimate referral elsewhere, and Ive not heard a word from his office.

I had a fusion surgery on my neck (as well as a double laminectomy and bone spurs removed), and it gave me my life back! Dr. Duhon and his staff are amazing! They went above & beyond, to prepare me for surgery (explaining everything thoroughly, with no pressure at all to choose surgery), as well as supporting me after. They worked with my insurance, to ensure that I received the care that was needed. I am approximately 90 days post-op, and feeling better than I have in decades! I have feeling in both hands, for the first time in 17 years! This practice offers so much, with all of the perks that a larger practice offers, as well as the personal touch of a small one. One of their employees even drove 90 minutes to bring me a bone growth stimulator, to accelerate my healing! Also, Katie (the office manager) has worked tirelessly, to ensure that all of my needs were met, communicating with my insurance company regularly. The scar is small, and is healing beautifully. My recovery is steady, and I feel so hopeful and optimistic for my future! So very grateful to have my life back, & to have had such amazing care throughout the process!

My wife just asked for the name of the surgeon who did my cervical surgery 5 years ago, since a friend of hers is looking for a surgeon. I remember that I did not do a review at the time and I should have. Dr. Duhon was great, as was his staff. My issue needed quick action, and Dr. Duhon got me in right away. My insurance would not cover our first choice in type of procedure, and he went out of his way to cut costs so I could still have the optimum surgery. Meetings pre and post surgery were great - he listens and cares and answers all questions. 5 years after my surgery, I am doing great, thanks to Dr. Duhon.
