    I just got a bill where he charged us $62 because his office emailed us saying "are you sure we should run payroll today since it seems like your employees are not working this week" to which we replied, "Yes , run payroll please" He charged us $62 for that... It's killing us his fees. Can't wait to replace him.

    Mark took the time to answer all of our questions without judging our incompetence in his area of expertise. He was down to earth, while maintaining a high level of professional integrity. He took the time to give us different scenarios and questioned us to make sure we understood. The office created an air of comfort without sacrificing the business. It was clean, the funiture provided adequate seating with room to move. The office dogs were friendly, curious, and extremely well behaved. Everyone we saw in the office was happy and treated us with the utmost respect.

Rachel, thank you for your review. We always like to hear if we can do things better and are sorry you didn't like your experience. That's not how we like folks to feel and have spoken with the staff we believe you talked to so we can identify how we might need to improve our customer service. We do know it's difficult to be in a situation like yours and in financial settings emotions can run high, especially when you can't easily find help. Handling calls like yours isn't something everyone in our staff is used to. Our office manager, who normally answers the phone, has been unavailable. Our other staff, who have been working hard to help clients, are trying to pick up the slack. Just like most other industries, too much work and not enough staff are making things not only extremely busy, but tense. We try to be as understanding and helpful as possible, but we aren't perfect either. Since you didn't get the benefit of talking to our office manager, we will tell you here that we are unaware of any firms taking new clients. As far as we've heard, everyone is overwhelmed with work. Our only suggestion, if you're still looking, is to try a larger firm that may have more bandwidth thanks to more staff, or try finding a firm in a larger city. Most firms, including ours, have clients all over and can easily work with you remotely. Again, we appreciate your review of your experience with us, we hope this response is helpful to you and others. We sincerely hope you've found a great firm to work with and have a plan to resolve your current situation.

'DJ Petz', perhaps we've already written this response to you under a different name on Facebook, but we did want to respond here as well since your statement seems the same. First, we’re not sure why or how you would have received one of our bills. Perhaps you received it in error as we don’t recognize your name as an owner of any of the businesses we work with. Regardless of how you came by it, our ethics would never allow us to conduct confidential business via social media, so we have very little we can say here. If you work for one of our valued clients, we always encourage the owner to contact us personally with questions about their bill so we can have a professional conversation. As with all professions similar to ours, we sell a service, not a physical product. That service, which includes routine monitoring of the individual needs of valued clients, requires infrastructure, professional knowledge, and dedicated staff, all of which cost money and are paid for with an hourly rate for our work. This is standard not only for CPAs, but also lawyers, consultants, engineers, architects, etc. Our many valued clients will tell you there are plenty of times we speak or meet with them and don’t charge. We believe it’s our duty to help as much as we can while still feeding our families. We appreciate that it may be difficult for some people to see the value of time, experience, knowledge, and expertise – they are far less tangible things than something one simply purchases over a counter. Again, we’re always happy to discuss this difference between types of business products with our valued clients – they are encouraged to call us at any time for a conversation.
