Dr. Melissa Helms is an amazing physician. #1 reason is she cares and hears your concerns and takes time to answer your questions. She never makes you feel rushed. Thank you for everything and Thank you to your amazing staff.

Worst medical experience ever! In 2017 I was starting to get chest pains along with bouts of high anxiety due to a horrific work situation and stress due to aging and decreasing health in aging father. Thank goodness for her NP, Megan, at the time. She gave me meds to help keep me calm. After my mom passed suddenly and unexpectedly, my difficult boss and regular panic attacks, I was unable to return to work. I went on short-term disability. Dr. Helms refused to allow authorize any additional time off work, telling me I had to go back to work. She was very brash and harsh and left me in the exam room in a full panic attack. No one checked on me. I dont remember how I even got my home. I ended up in the ER two days later and admitted to West Pines Behavioral Health program. I have since been diagnosed with Chronic PTSD, Major Depressive Disorder and Panic Disorder. Dr. Helms did nothing to get me the help I needed. I am currently on Social Security Disability as I am unable to work.

Dr. Helms is honestly and sorry to say the worst doctor I have ever had. She was very discrinatory toward me because I take a scheduled pain medication called tramadol. Have been for about 10 years safely and am very responsible. She also did a blood drug test on me without my knowing. Just said she wanted to run the yearly typical blood tests on me to check thyroid and such. Little did I know she put in an order for a drug screening as well. It was fine because of course I wasnt on any meds I shouldnt have been but I have also not had a doctor sneak a drug screening in on me. Absolute terrible. I suppose because of the opioid crisis doctors or just dr. Helms has decided to make life hell on us patients following the rules. I have needed some low low dose Xanax...one every few days for crippling panic attacks till I can get to a psychiatrist and she put me through hell as well as one of her associates to just get 5 low dose xanax every two to three weeks till my psych appt and it looks like they will no longer help me. I have never ever been treated this way and its awful. I will end up in the emergency room with these panic attacks without medication. I am furious with New west physicians and with dr Helms and I hope one day she experiences how terrifying a panic attack can be. Maybe then she would have some compassion and realize we are not a bunch of junkies trying to score benzodiazepines. So awful. Fortunately she isnt practicing anymore so others wont be treated this way.

I absolutely loved her, she was the 1st doctor that made me feel very welcome, & understood me. I have searched for a Doctor for years b/c I myself have been needing a doctor to just help me, & hear me out. I found her through my In- Laws who still see her. When I was her patient I got taken care of like never before. I was estatic especially after going through over 50 some doctors. She was truly a gift from god. But unfortunately I lost her b/c I guess I missed so many appointments... Anyways" I would give anything to have her back in my life as my Doctor for the rest of my life!!! "Truly the best doc ever, plus she's the sweetest lady in the world!!! Thanks for letting me share your truly Tristen Welton~ P.S. It was an honor being your patient...
