Gentle and Professional dental care Proud to say that my now 6&1/2 yo granddaughter actually SKIPS into the office while fully aware that shes having work done .. They are always so gentle -A GREAT place for the kids who may be scared of dentists.. Plus , getting a little reward at end of visits ALWAYS a bonus !

Our kids love this place...everyone is very friendly and patient. The cool fish tank and fun atmosphere help the kids look forward to coming. My special needs son has begun to feel more comfortable with dental visits!

Their billing took 2 years for them to get back to us and over $ 1,000. Stay away if you dont want to be robbed for teeth cleanings on kids.

Parents- PLEASE advocate for your children and dont settle for a procedure you dont feel comfortable agreeing with.. I believe that this facility is taking advantage of certain insurance companies and requesting GENERAL ANESTHESIA because they dont have the patience to handle routine dental care. Always get a second opinion! ALWAYS- it can save your childs life. When I took my child to another provider they were baffled at the thought that this facility urged GENERAL ANESTHESIA (a possible life threatening surgery that has a risk of DEATH) they believe this facility over inflated the dental work that needed to be done and it was NOT needed for my child!!! I didnt just get ONE second opinion I got TWO and they both told me that this is bogus. Its thanksgiving- holidays are coming up. Please be vigilant and if you have a gut feeling that something is off- you dont have to settle or go through with it.. you would think that a pediatric dentist would have experience with handling dental procedures on children - I guess this place just believes in putting kids under!! Im contemplating making a formal complaint to the Colorado dental board. My child didnt need the inflated dental work that you claimed, and surely surgery is not necessary.

We have had great experiences at Kids First Dental with my two daughters. Dr. Luke is exceptionally friendly and fantastic with kids. If you are looking for a pediatric dental office in Fort Collins I would recommend this location with 5 stars!! The fish tank in the waiting room is cool and my kids like that they watch movies during their visits.

About
KidsFirst Dental

We encourage parents to participate in their children’s care and dental education. Unlike many offices, we are happy to have parents back during their children’s visits, if they desire– especially during their first visit. This allows our doctor to discuss with you any areas of concern you may have and show you what he sees. When you walk through our door, our priority is to make you and your child feel welcome and completely comfortable. Upon arrival, our friendly staff will have forms for you to complete that allow us to better assist you and take care of your child’s needs. Or you can save time by completing the forms prior to your visit. Explore and enjoy our large play area until your child is ready to be seen.

We understand it is frustrating when situations arise that result in delays in settling accounts. We'd love to be in control of where insurance payments are sent so that we can be paid directly in every instance. When payments are sent to the family instead, they still remain responsible for paying us for balances that have accrued for services that were provided. We appreciate your feedback and agree that any time delay can be difficult for all sides of a transaction. We have implemented some new tools to make it easier for our families to be notified, besides letters being sent, and pay any balances that remain due. We will always work with families to resolve any concerns as they are responsive to our attempts to communicate with them. Thank you for your understanding.

Thanks Laura for your review. We completely agree that parents should always act as advocates for their children. This is one of the reasons we encourage parents to come back with their children for their exams and treatment visits instead of staying in our reception area. This allows better communication and lets us better discuss any treatment recommended and options and answer any questions or concerns that may arise.I cannot speak to your specific situation but we evaluate each child based on the best information we have at that visit and recommend what we feel will help them have the best experience possible at that time. A few of the factors we consider include age, ability and willingness to follow instruction and guidance throughout the exam and cleaning, temperament, ability to take good xrays, negative past experiences with dental work, and amount of dental work we anticipate, including the number of visits the recommended treatment may require.Sometimes we don't have enough information to know exactly what needs to be done on a child. For example, a child might not be cooperative enough to get good xrays in office but clinically we can see they have multiple large cavities. So we make a judgement based on past experiences and what we are able to see from our clinical exam and make a tentative plan based on that. Once we are able to get good X-rays, while the child is asleep, treatment often can change and things may be better or worse than we anticipated. If it is decided to go to the surgery center, we sometimes plan for the worst-case scenario in order to give a better estimate to families of what costs may be and hopefully avoid surprises in cost.General anesthesia or sedation is one tool that most pediatric dentists use that allows us to do treatment on children we feel would not be able to do it in another manner safely or without causing trauma to their developing psyche. This is recommended as the best option by us when we feel that other tools in our toolbelt would be unsuccessful. Like any medical procedure, it is not without risks. To help mitigate these risks we only do general anesthesia cases in a surgery center setting instead of our office.Any relationship is based on trust. We hope we gain the trust and confidence of our patients and families based on how we interact with and take care of their children. I would never recommend anything that I wouldn't do on my own child based on similar circumstances. We try to recommend what we feel would be in the child's best interest to continue to have positive dental experiences now and in the future. We strive to change the tradition of being fearful of the dentist. Ultimately, treatment choices are each parent’s decision and we are glad you got a second opinion and found a path you are comfortable with. We hope your child has great experiences.I would be happy to discuss things further if you would like to call the office directly and ask for me or leave a message on our emergency line. Hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving and holiday season!Luke Milmont, DMD
