Today we had the worst experience sitting amongst a group of employees from this company aboard the Durango and Silverton narrow gauge railroad. There were around 6-8 rows(about 10-12 employees) and we were sitting in the second row when immediately after departure(8:15am) they began what was a presentation. A woman who felt the need to stand up, give her whole background of how she joined the company. There after everyone else followed suit boasting about their titles and whatever job they do. Mind you, the car was full of other patrons who paid to enjoy a scenic route and spend time with their loved ones, not a presentation about this company. Their presentation included everything except a power point. They even mentioned how people want to escape to the outdoors to get away, well that is what my husband and I were trying to do. For a group of employees who are in the hospitality/customer service industry, they sure do lack the experience of how to read a room and along with compassion and consideration for those around. Finally, around 10:30am after sitting listening to them loudly speak, one woman was leaning against the seat yelling in my husband's ear when I finally said something. I asked could she not yell into his ear and that we have been listening to them yell for the past 2 hours about information that didn't concern all those around. She seemed completely oblivious as to what I was saying which is ridiculous. She did apologize but by then the trip had already been ruined. Their apology should have been to every passenger aboard that car. Your company didn't rent out the whole car and your selfish employees should have picked a better time and place to conduct their business. Your employees that were aboard that train were selfish, loud and inconsiderate. On the return ride, thankfully a few of them were not aboard but the few that were left, continued with their nonsense and one of the men felt the need to tell of all his inebriated experiences for all to hear. Even the conductor made it a point to say that the return ride was much quieter. Observation is key, for some, this was probably a once in a lifetime experience that was ruined by employees from your company.

My wife and I participated in the Snow Science & Winter Interpretive Hike this past weekend and really enjoyed it! It provides a great educational introduction into the snow of the San Juan Mountains and how unique it is around North America. Plus you get to spend sometime on snowshoes in one of the most beautiful spots in the Southwest! Great snacks are provided along with a warm fire upon completion of the program. Jeremy, Rachel, Keith and others did a great job leading our group and I would highly recommend this activity to both visitors and locals!
