While the service was great the food left much to be desired. The drinks were good. I would definitely pay attention to the service fee it hits hard at the end of the meal.

The place is very cute and very much feels like a nice Italian ambiance. I went with a group for Denver restaurant week and the food was ok at best. Really nothing special. I don't know if this Carmines is associated with the one in Las Vegas but this food was far below those standards. The chicken marsala lacked flavor and the baked ziti tasted was bland. The caesar salad ended up being the highlight. They were out of chocolate cake and my party ended up still being hungry since it is $70 for two people to share one entree design. Weird. Also, by pre-building an excessive 22% service fee (plus an additional 3% fee for the building), it does not motivate your staff to check the tables on water and be as attentive. I understand that Denver cost of living is higher and believe in a higher minimum wage, but why not prebuild at 17% as a floor and people can tip more if they want based on the service they receive? The service fee was listed on the table but not on the website and it seems fishy and deceptive. Our waiter really wasn't with it either.

Taylor: We always appreciate hearing from customers as to how we can improve our food, service, etc. We have been locally owned for 30 years when our original restaurant opened. We regret that you did not see the our posting on the homepage for our McGregor Square location as well as on Open Table regarding our 22% hospitality fee.
