The Lodge at Mountaineer Square

They have this dump rated as a 4-star hotel. Spare me. 4-star hotels have clean sheets, clean carpet and faucets that don't leak water onto the counter when turned on. In other words, 4-star hotels are maintained. This place is not maintained, clean or courteous. The staff are clueless if you can find them. For example, at 8pm on a Sunday, nobody, I mean nobody was at the front desk. Ditto at 6 am. That isn't a 4-star hotel! They do not serve coffee in the lobby. When you found an employee they weren't trained, knew nothing, and had a negative attitude. They have no restaurant on premise, and the restaurants in the area serve greasy bar food. I thought this was Colorado, home of the "free-range chicken" and farm-to-table movement? Lastly, no housekeeping service. Frankly, I don't think they clean the rooms between guests either. The sheets in my room smelled of sweat! The carpet looked like it belonged in a fraternity party room. Vail Resorts are NOT executing. I suggest you stay in town where there are healthy food choices and family-owned and operated inns.

Promised to contact me regarding possibility to change the dates of my reservation (fiance broke her ankle), but a) didn't do so and b) then told me "no" when i finally called back.
