If you can stay away from getting help from the Craig office please do so. We have taken on two kids from the state and have been getting $300 a month in tanf and the county where we have took in kinship for the kids from called us and told us to ask Moffat County to stop payments because we werent supposed to be getting them. I called them that day and two times after asking them to double check and stop the payments. They assured us this was correct and kept making the payments to us and also stated if they found out they are wrong on this we would not have to pay the money back because it was there mistake. Well we got there call today saying we have to pay everything back and they are sorry because its there fault, but we still have to pay it back. What a joke this department is and if you can at all cost do not deal with them.

My friend's child was taken without cause after her husband was
arrested; she has no criminal history and history of having to jump thru hoops for Dhs and their unfounded claims against innocent parents. Making false statements to the courts has continued to plague the Moffat county DHS. Wanting to help my friend, I called the office to seek an appointment with Cps helpers to tell them what I knew to be true about her and her child, who is 13 and never separated from her momma. The woman who answered the phone was immediately rude and hostile upon learning who I wanted to talk to them about.
I am a few credits away from earning a bachelor's degree in
Human Services. I wasn't seeking information as she assumed I was. I know every detail of this case and who all the players are. It seems to me these women who hold so much power over people's lives have forgotten the code of ethics social workers are guided by and let their personal bias lead them to make decisions that devastate entire families like my friend and her child; they have submitted false information related to her case to the court. After I asked to speak to someone else, another worker picked up and agreed to a meeting, and we set the time.
I then wrote a letter to Dhs stating my concerns. I would then give it to her at the meeting, so there was zero chance of them assuming I had other intentions. When we had agreed, I went to the Dhs office only to be told she wasn't there. I was insulted by this behavior. I left the letter with the receptionist and ensured I got a time stamp which wasn't needed as the wife of the former head of CASA had given me a ride that day and was aware of why I was there. A copy of the letter went to the court as well.
Moffat County DHS has been mired in false reporting and fraud. Researching for an assignment on my local agencies and potential place of employment was an unsettling and disturbing
experience after learning of the criminal behavior and absolute
bias of the helpers or social workers employed there. My classmates were shocked at what we learned and have taken an interest, as this isn't common with DHS agencies.
The workers did not know who I was; I wanted to help my friend.
Her child should be home with her momma. There was no family assessment and zero attempts at reuniting this family.No offer of help for my friend or her child and their problems. No provisions of in-home services Nothing. This family has suffered from the wrong and unethical decisions made by the workers who should correct the harmful mistakes they made and reunite this family. ,
