My husband, who has Alzheimer's, has been a memory care resident here for 3 months, after being in a different facility previously for almost a year. The care he receives at Pikes Peak Center is excellent! Providing care for those with dementia is challenging for staff, but his caregivers are knowledgeable, patient, compassionate, & cheerful, rolling with each of the residents' individual quirks, even though it must be incredibly hard at times! My husband always seems well-groomed, content & happy! What a blessed provision for this season of our lives!

Staff was helpful in helping me cut and arrange flowers in their extra vase. Others helped me figure out where to park and find my friends room. Security guard coming back from lunch directed me away from designated fire lanes not painted red like other curbs. I had a hard time finding the front entrancedidnt notice red signs! Had to park 4 times before getting it convenient and legal close to my friends unit. Suggest larger, more obvious signage with more contrast, like a white background. Also update you website adding more specific directions to front entrance( i went to the back, drove around and had to park and walk to find someone who directed me to the Union side of facility. We are hopeful this stay will be supported well by physical therapy so she can be come stronger and stabilized to be more independent like before. ( She walked with assistantce to ambulance after a fall and lying there 20 hours before found. She walked very little in hospital in spite of no fractures). She was moved to your facility 2 days ago.

Pikes Peak Center has a well kept grounds and parking area. Parking is paved and has spaces for handicapped parking. There are restrooms available for visitors that are clean and handicapped friendly. When one first walks in you are greeted by one of two or three (I think) lovely girls who are friendly, respectful, and very helpful. They first assist with being given access through their new electronic access badging system. Having a ore ious history in firefighting, I appreciate that they keep track of everyone who may be the building. My wife was in a facility prior to coming to the Pikes Peak Center. That facility was dirty, and the staff were uncaring. The were angered when pushed to doing their jobs. Nurses mostly hung out at the central nurse's station playing computer games. It was terrible! A nightmare in every way. My daughter and her best friend fought tooth and nail toward getting my wife transferred after they checked out Pikes Peak Center. I have cancer and was undergoing surgery and chemotherapy and was unable. I'm so thankful that they found Pikes Peak Center! Pikes Peak Center holds Care Conferences where they have the different professions meet with my wife, my daughter, and myself, where they tell us everything they see going on, has happened, and plans for future care. Then they ask us to share concerns, our plans for my wife's future care, and any complaints we might have. The thing is, I don't have very much to share at those meetings until I hear what their plans are because the nursing staff is so open to sharing and listening to concerns and complaints, and what they see in my wife's progress, that it doesn't leave much unsaid! And when I do share a concern, I see immediate action to correct the problem! That's wonderful in my book! The facility is clean and well kept, the food is good (I know because I've tasted several of my wife's meals) and nutrition and special requests are observed very closely by the dietician. Physical therapy has been fantastic with her also! Ultimately, if someone would have told me that I could find a facility for my dear wife where I would literally have no complaints, I probably would have checked my wallet. No way! But believe it or not, that has happened here at Pikes Peak Center! I wish to humbly say thank you to all of the staff from the front desk to maintenance and janitorial, from dietary to nurse aids, nursing, physical and occupational therapy. And if I have missed ANYONE with this list, I'm sorry because it definitely is all the staff! It's no wonder that it's so difficult to get a bed here!
