I don't recommend coming here. Yes it's very clean and a decent size, but when it comes to your mental health, that doesn't matter. This school will pile homework on you like there's no tomorrow and for some of the kids who have a learning disability don't usually receive the help they need unless they go to war about it.

A fine school with great core academics but my peers and Is numerous complaints about the schools drama teacher went unheard by the administration. As a drama student for 3 years I began to resent something I once loved thanks to said staff members lack of instruction in the art of theatre for they rather ram their own political agenda down the gullets of students and punish those who dont agree.

I am a public middle school teacher.  I purposefully moved my family to D12 (Cheyenne Mountain School District) because of the highest ratings.  Trust me, the high school and district are completely overrated.  The new superintendent, David Peak, is horrible.  He lies to parents.  I have seen this on more than one occasion.  He assured us that CRT was not being taught in the district.  This word was spread far and wide through the parent community, until evidence was provided to David Peak that CRT was indeed being taught.  Oh they dont call it CRT (critical race theory) anymore, that is too toxic, they were losing that battle...they have renamed it DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion).  When this was brought to his attention, his response was, "you need to talk to the school administrator".  What?  It wasn't the administrator that pledged that CRT was not being taught, it was David Peak...but then he just passes the buck.  So unacceptable.  At board meetings, the parents were not allowed to speak past an hour.  It is their job to listen to their constituents.  If you have over an hour of parents that want to be heard...YOU LISTEN TO THEM.  After the hour, they said you can email us your concerns, but only one board member sent a cursory reply.  You tell us to send emails, then you dont reply?  UNACCEPTABLE.  Then there is Carrie Brenner, the principal at CMHS.  She and her staff intimidated students that wanted to stage a walk out over masks.  They actually blocked their exit from school.  Then those that participated were not allowed back in class.  There were actually kids that had no way of getting home, their parents were not contacted to let them know what had happened.  These kids were left out in the cold with no supervision, no parental contact...just left high and dry.  That's what they get for not going along with the schools agenda.  Funny, those that wanted to walk out for gun control were not penalized, they were celebrated with parent and administration support.  Is that who you really want caring for your children?  It is a political mess at CMHS and CMSD.  I moved my kids to different schools.  CMSD thinks that because they have high ratings, they dont have to listen.  Well those high ratings will be dropping with this new superintendent.  I understand that the place he left is thankful he is gone.  D12 is on the decline.
