We visited for a baby shower some friends were having. The place was clean and well kept. It also didn't appear run down like other locations.

My family and I have been attending Heart of the Springs for about 3 years now. From the very beginning I felt at home and felt the presence of God. We didnt know anyone in the church when we first arrived and yet felt very welcomed especially by the Pastor when other churches never even took much notice of us. Before we were even official members, this church took care of our family by providing meals while two of us were hospitalized with COVID. As a woman Ive never felt less than and feel very loved and valued within this church and love being able to serve within the Church. The church I grew up in never had women in any positions of importance at all but I here at Heart of the Springs I see women leading small groups, teaching children in Awana, organizing prayers for members of the congregation and other areas of importance like community service. More importantly the teachings are Biblical and there is a strong focus on Jesus and the love he has for each and every person on this planet.

Ive struggled for the past month about whether or not to write a review. But I am saddened by hypocrisy coming from the pulpit and Im compelled to address it. The pastor complained (falsely) that the Southern Baptist convention devalues women and sent a message that they are not important. Yet he invites men only to the front of the church to pray while women are expected to remain seated. Honoring women involves more than words or a sermon on the topic, and actions speak loudly. After criticizing Baptist Leadership and ascribing a false narrative to their motives, he went on to preach about the importance of Unity in the Body of Christ. He went so far as to say Disunity weakens our testimony. What does public deprecation of other believers, especially Leaders in authority, do for unity? I believe this pastor owes the congregation an apology for sowing seeds of discord and blatant hypocrisy. Meanwhile, Ill continue looking for a church where Gods Word is preached, not mans opinion.

Business Response on Google Sep 22nd, 2023
DiAnna,The SBC in New Orleans voted and passed some things that sent mixed messages to a watching world. One of the assumptions being made based on what was decided is that the SBC devalues women. In that message, I intended to communicate that—WE DO NOT devalue women, and the Bible DOESN’T. I did not intend to criticize but I did intend to confront the negative message that was sent to women in my congregation and in our city.I gave Biblical examples to the points I made that day and I intentionally chose female examples from the Scriptures. I wanted to make the point that God calls and can use anybody, and to say He doesn’t or imply He won’t, is a mistake. The reason we start our worship service on Sunday by inviting the men to pray is to encourage men to be men of prayer--to step up and love God publicly and lead courageously. I can understand the misconception and we should do a better job of communicating the purpose of it. We honor and appreciate women and to say otherwise is simply not true. Our church could not function without the strong leadership of the women in it. Many of our Deacons are women. I pray that our men would step up like our women have. I am not going to apologize to my church for that sermon--they know my heart and my intention. I do apologize to you and anyone else there who heard something different than what was actually said.
