My grandfather lived here for over a year and during that time it was nothing but issues and neglect. His toe nails were so long that they hurt him in his shoes and he couldn't put on underwear. His fingernails were also falling out. I told HIS LEAD NURSE about this and asked her to please check on him, if nothing else to just make sure hes safe, because again, his fingernails were FALLING OUT. She told me " he's good enough to drive, so he's good enough to take care of his own body". My grandfather was 86 years old and had limited mobility, dementia, heart failure, couldn't stand up and breath properly at the same time. But he was expected to deal with his own medical issues causing his nails to FALL OUT, and feet that he couldn't reach that were hurting him. I had to go all the way to the top of the food chain and cry to her on the phone to get someone to look in on him about the nails falling out. They also told me they wouldn't take care of his feet, and we had to pay 60$ for an outside service to cut his toe nails. When we already had to pay 3k a month out of pocket for him to live there. On another incident I came to his apartment to find his bed, soaked in pee down to the floor. The mattress, the box spring, the floor were all completely soaked, so this had obviously been going on for a long time. His couch was also soaked.Hiss pants , that he was not wearing were also soaked and laying on the floor. He also had a full container of pee sitting next to him in his room and his depends was soaked I ran and asked a member of his team to do something about this, and her solution was to dump out the pee container, but left the bed, and moved the pants that we're soaked o the middle of the floor. Making them a tripping hazard as well as a hygiene hazard. I went and found someone else to help me because this didn't resolve the situation at all, and was told, again "oh, your grandfather does his own chores." When, again, he can barely stand up and breath at the same time, has dementia, so things like hygiene go out the window, and he was surrounded with hygiene hazards. In both situations, I had to go basically to the top of the food chain and cry to someone to get anyone to help my grandfather. He also had many falls that went unreported to any member of his family, including myself, who was his medical power of attorney and first point of contact.he was allowed to sit in his depends long enough that it ate a hole in his bottom and got infected. I would show up and he had bruises, and then I would find out something happened, sometimes a week or more after it happened. The day he died, they over sedated him and he was left all alone in his wheelchair in the middle of nowhere in the building, which he could barely hold himself up in, and was left drowning on his own fluids and snot. Do not send your loved ones here its absolutely a nightmare. This place is the reason he died when he did

I would highly recommend Sunrise to any family who is looking for great care for their loved one. Sunrise is a small environment with a big loving heart for caring for your loved one. We chose Sunrise for my 91 year old father. He was in a hospice situation; the care takers there cared for him in a very loving gentle way. We left there every night knowing he was in good hands and checked on frequently. They treated him as one of their own loved ones. The administration team is also very kind and loving. They put together all their resources to get my father in there as quickly as they could to give him a comfortable loving place for the last days of his life. We were so please with Sunrise - it was always clean, all the staff was gentle and caring. We watched other people who were in the home and they too were cared for in a very professional, loving way. I will definitely go back to them if the need is there in our family again. If you are in this situation of finding a good place for your loved one please visit Sunrise. They are very passionate for your loved one.

I dont usually write reviews, but felt I should share my experience for Sunrise at University Park, where my beloved grandmother has been residing for the past two years. I must say, our experience has been nothing short of exceptional. The facility is not just a retirement home, but a community that fosters warmth, care, and companionship. Sunrise is nestled in a serene and picturesque location, providing a peaceful environment that is perfect for the residents. The facility itself is well-maintained, clean, and equipped with all the necessary amenities. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and designed to cater to the needs of the elderly. What sets this retirement home apart is the staff. They are not just employees, but compassionate individuals who genuinely care for the residents. They are professional, friendly, and always go the extra mile to ensure the comfort and well-being of the residents. The medical staff is available round the clock, providing prompt and efficient care whenever needed. Sunrise also offers a variety of activities to keep the residents engaged and entertained. From book clubs and gardening to yoga classes and movie nights, there is something for everyone. My grandmother particularly enjoys the painting classes and has rediscovered her love for art. The food served is nutritious, delicious, and tailored to meet the dietary needs of the residents. They also accommodate special dietary requests, which is a big plus. Communication with the management is always smooth. They keep us regularly updated about my grandmother's health and activities. They are transparent, approachable, and always willing to address any concerns or queries. In conclusion, Sunrise at University Park is a perfect blend of comfort, care, and community. It has given us peace of mind knowing that our grandmother is in safe hands, and she is happy and content. I would highly recommend this retirement home to anyone looking for a secure, caring, and engaging environment for their loved ones.
